Easy Fall Decor That Creates the Wow Factor

holidays intuitive decor Sep 21, 2020

One of the easiest ways to decorate for Fall, is to gather all of your fall decor together and concentrate it in one area to create a stunning display.

Too often when decorating, people feel the need to spread holiday decor all around the house, making sure everything everywhere gets a bit of Christmas or a bit of well, any holiday. While this does indeed show a sampling of the decor everywhere you look, it might not give the desired effect that you were hoping to create.

Decor items, like collections, are best viewed when grouped together so that the feeling and expression can be experienced and enjoyed. Think of it like a Thanksgiving dinner or buffet. Imagine coming to Thanksgiving and seeing the beautiful table covered with all of your favorite foods, the turkey, the stuffing, cranberries, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, rolls, the list goes on, but you get the picture right? It's a feast for the eyes and the appetite!

Now imagine instead if you walked into...

Create a Beautiful Stylish Home of Your Dreams - Even When Renting!

When decorating for Fall, I've always loved decorating the fireplace the most!

The mantel is such a perfect place to display the brilliant colors of the season with brightly colored garlands of leaves, adding ribbon to the mix along with pine cones, acorns, nuts and berries.

It reflects the season, the gorgeous turning of the leaves and brings the look and feel of nature inside. This is especially important to do when living in a place where the natural look of Fall is not immediately apparent outside, due to lack of trees in the city or when living in an area that doesn't reflect the four seasons, such as a sub-tropical environment. The brilliant use of color with the oranges, reds and yellows help welcome us into the mood of the season.

Here's a picture from my library many years ago when I created a Fall scape like this on my fireplace mantel. I had a gorgeous fireplace in this home and it was a joy to decorate it.

Fireplaces are one of the most gorgeous accents one can...

Southern Style Living with Grand Design

One of my favorite styles in home decor is the warm, classic, comfortably elegant Southern Living style. It encompasses lots of florals, patterns and wonderful color combinations.

Here's a beautiful room that I created recently for a client who loves this style and wanted to incorporate it into her formal living room. Enjoy the journey here as we show the process of how a room changes and evolves into new life!

First, let me explain how I decorate a room. In my work as an Intuitive Interior Decorator, I first psychically scan the room to feel the energy in it. Everything and everyone holds energy, especially houses, where we spend so much of our time and I can feel the energy in each room. As I view a room, the house speaks to me, telling me its story through the energy that is being held in the room.  The house also shows me how it would like to look and feel.

As an Intuitive, I can see and feel the aura of the home and the energy that is gathered there. The energy is created...

Mardi Gras Colors - Purple Green and Gold

Fresh off of showing my fireplace decorated for Winter, it's time to bring in some color!

There's nothing like color to brighten up your thoughts and emotions during the Winter months, so if you're wondering what you can do to lift your energy at this time, it's easy! Start by bringing in some fun colors to your room!

One of my favorite yearly celebrations is coming up! It's Mardi Gras. The Colors of Mardi Gras are Purple, Green and Gold. Purple represents justice, green is faith and gold represents power.

Beads in these colors are thrown to the crowds as the floats pass by in the parades. It is said that if you catch the beads, the color represents the type of good luck you will receive this year. Remember it's bad juju to steal beads from someone else who caught them, that's only going to reverse that fortune and bring the bad upon you, such as loss of power, faith or justice for you.

I've added some of these colors to my fireplace here with the addition of my carnival mask along...

Christmas with a Tuscany Feel

holidays intuitive decor Dec 27, 2019

It's fun to watch my clients newly decorated homes continue to redefine themselves throughout the seasons of the year.  As I work with each client to "redesign their homes and their lives from the inside out", transformations occur both within the home and the client themselves.

In a project I did earlier this year, we transformed my clients dining room into a space that reflects her love of wine and the Tuscany region.  The beautiful blue and gold tones anchor this space and are reflected boldly in the gorgeous rug from Grandin Road.

The new Hooker Furniture Archivist round table and chairs invite all who enter a place of welcome and honor at the table and the canvas artwork depicting Lake Como announces the mood and intent of the room. Lemons placed on the table runner and and an olive tree set in a deep blue planter complete the mood of this space.

I'm delighted to share some holiday decor photos of this room, with one of my client's adorable cats playing host for this...

Winter Solstice and Celebrating the Spirit of the Season

If you've followed my writings for a while, you know that I love the holidays. I love celebrating them, decorating for them and sharing rituals and inspirational thoughts on how to connect with holidays on a deeper more meaningful level.

During the month of December, I celebrate the Holiday Season. What I love most is that no matter what religious or spiritual belief you connect with, they all focus on a return to light at this time. I think it's important to honor this special time of year as a season, meaning a collection of days over a period of time, rather than a focus on one day. This allows us time to have a conscious connection engaging with the sights, sounds, smells and scenery around us, as well as the time to reflect on the deeper meanings of the season.  We can take in the joy of the season, putting up a tree, hanging garland and decorating with shiny colorful objects, ribbons and of course, lights! The smell of pine, cinnamon, sugar, orange, and many other...

The Color Black is a New Trend in Home Decor, Even for Christmas

Sophisticated, elegant and strong, the color black, whether it's a little black dress, the sleek color of a car or in the décor of a home, exudes confidence and success.

The most important rule to remember when using this color in home décor, is that a little goes a long way...

There's a trend happening now with black in interior design and I'm already seeing it used in an overkill and suffocating kind of way where the entire room is covered in black.

Much like the color grey, which I wrote about earlier, black, when used too much, can have a negative effect, instead of the desired intention.

Where I think black goes too far is when entire kitchens or bathrooms are designed in black, the cabinets, walls, toilets, etc. The effect can feel depressing as the color dominants the room and creates a heavy depressive feeling. How does the photo above of the black kitchen make you feel? Are you ready to cook and enjoy your time in this room?

But Kala you...

Silver, Gold and New Color Trends for the Holiday Season

The most frequently asked question I receive about auras has to be, what color is my aura?

When giving an aura reading, I explain to clients that for the most part, their aura changes color on a regular basis, due to their emotions and thoughts. We are always emitting colors from our aura that indicate what we are thinking and feeling.

I also explain that there are usually one or two colors, which remain consistent in your aura. These colors remain with the person for their lifetime, unless they dramatically change their life to the point that other colors override the previous colors, which change the energy resonance and vibratory energy fields. These are the colors that you want to ask me about, because you'll love the look and feel of your home if you decorate in those specific colors!

When a big change is happening for a person, it is indicated by a streak of color running through the aura. Of all the colors to see as streaks, the two that get me the...

Happy Holidays!

I hope that this post finds you well and taking the time to enjoy the holiday season. As we know, life moves by fast and it's important that we all take a moment to breathe deeply and look around and take it all in.  All these years later, it turns out that Ferris Bueller had the right idea all along. And if you're reading this and are asking, who is Ferris Bueller, Google him and find out how his movie is pure philosophy. ;)

The Fall season leading into Winter is my favorite time of year and students who study the mystery school teachings with me, are taught about the...
