A Sip of Wanderlust

Today’s tea transported me farther than any cup has so far.

I opened the packet and instantly felt the whisper of another world — Marrakech Mint Green Tea, fragrant with a Moroccan blend of bright mint and earthy green tea. One inhale and I wasn’t in my kitchen anymore. I was in a sun-warmed courtyard in Marrakech, tile mosaics glittering, the air fragrant with mint, citrus, spices, and that timeless hum of a city that has lived a thousand lives. All this and I hadn't even made the tea yet, I was still just sniffing the bag!

This tea has allure — the kind that makes you pause and inhale again just to be sure you didn’t imagine it. It wound its away around me, whispering to me that I should redecorate my home in blues, purples, golds and green jewel tones, with luxurious carpets, while wearing silks... I found myself looking at my dishes, wondering if I could break them into small pieces to make into some type of mosaic art.  Dear Reader, I had entered into the experience fully and had to pause to gather my sensibilities this morning. 

This dashing tea is exotic without trying. Bright without being sharp, and comforting without losing its mystery. It's a tea with personality — bold, welcoming, and ever so slightly untamed. It's everything one could want in a man, errr, I mean tea, in a tea, gentle reader. 

As I sipped the tea, I found myself looking upon my cup with disdain, thinking it was too plain to host such a magnificent beverage. It deserved bolder colors and design and I quickly wondered if my 365 days of tea might turn into 365 mugs, one to fit each flavor. This ritual may level up to that experience in due time. I was so enchanted that I even found my tea pot lacking in color and design, wishing it was made of copper or some gorgeous design. 

Marrakech is famous for its mint tea — not merely a drink, but a welcome, a shared language between strangers, family, merchants, travelers, and dreamers. It is poured from high above the glass to aerate it, sweetened generously, and offered as a gesture of hospitality.

To drink mint tea in Marrakech is to participate in the heartbeat of the city. Even in a simple tea bag far from Morocco, the energy still comes through:

• warmth

• welcome

• sensual beauty

• color

• rhythm

• wandering soul

You can feel the labyrinth of the souks, the saffron-colored sunsets, the swirl of spices in the air, the hush of desert evenings. Mint tea is the city’s breath — heady, bright, alive. I was sipping and taking it all in and though I have not visited the land of Marrakech in this lifetime, I feel as if my soul connected with the lush sensual beauty and vibrant energy in this magic moment.

Green tea brings gentle, steady energy. It sharpens the mind, smooths the nervous system, and opens subtle intuitive channels.

Together, green tea and mint create a partnership that feels like:

There is something about mint and green tea together that feels both ancient and modern — a little like stepping into a story and finding yourself enchanted instantly. I can testify that it took me there. 

This tea feels like traveling without moving, dreaming while awake, and being captivated without losing your center.

It’s a tea that invites you to wander into the parts of yourself that long for beauty, color, experience, and soulful adventure.

As I finished my cup, the spirit of Marrakech leaned in close to me, and whispered in my ear... “Life is meant to be tasted. Let yourself wander, even in the small moments.”
