“A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease.” – John Muir
I’m being energetically pulled away from my work today to spend time gazing at my beloved River Birch tree outside my window as the wind blows past he and I. The wind has a howl to it this morning, it seems to be in a hurry to move debris and spread seeds for an early Spring. That’s just fine with me!
I have a deep connection to my River Birch and as I gaze upon him on this first day of March, I see his strong bare branches reaching upward towards the Sun. It reminds me of the ancient wisdom teaching of As Above, So Below and a practice I teach of reaching upward to bring white light energy into the body from the higher realms. River Birch is doing the same today, gathering energy from the sunlight and preparing to blossom forth with new growth this Spring.
I’ve always had a strong relationship and love for trees, must come from my old Celtic Druid roots. Trees are wonderful teachers if you’ll spend some time in their company. Today, he inspires me once again, with his patience through the long Winter and his knowledge that Spring will come again soon. Soon he will burst forth in his brilliant green glory again. I bet if I went out tromping through the forest back there this afternoon, that I’d come across the Green Man hard at work in the area.
What gifts of inspiration nature provides on a daily basis. Usually my River Birch has quite a few companions with him, a robin is always nearby as well as a hawk that visits daily and an owl joins us each evening. Today though he stands alone, focusing his energy on pulling in all the sunlight that he can, while moving and swaying with Brother Wind. Today his wisdom reminds me that as Spring approaches, it’s time to shake off the energy of Winter and bring the new energy and light into my body, allowing for new creative ideas to blossom this Spring.
“Trees go wandering forth in all directions with every wind, going and coming like ourselves, traveling with us around the sun two million miles a day, and through space heaven knows how fast and far” – John Muir
