Does Life Imitate Art or Does Art Imitate Life? In this case today, I’m starting to wonder.. 🙂
A dear friend recently gave me the most enchanting and delightfully unexpected gift. It was a Barbie doll and I know what you’re thinking — “why would someone give Kala a Barbie doll?” To see the doll is to understand, as this particular doll is described as “Secret Spells” and she has long red hair. If this isn’t funny enough, the name of this doll is “Kayla” and the description for the doll explains that… “Kayla goes from ordinary school girl by day – to – Secret Spells girl at night.”
The doll comes with a purple butterfly ring and wears a green butterfly coat. The butterfly has always been one of the symbols for my wisdom school as the butterfly symbolizes life, death and rebirth and is the signature stamp at the end of each lesson given to students.
Included with the Kayla doll are three colorful bottles, which are similar to those I use when teaching about the ancient techniques used to cleanse and recharge the aura.
Along with a mixing pot to make secret potions, Kayla’s accessories also include a magic book intended to store secret information and magical tools inside. She’s there with her book against the backdrop of a full moon and star-filled evening sky, which is known by my friends as my favorite time to work and write.
Growing up with the name Kala it has always been rare to see my name on any product much less a doll, even though the makers did add a “y” to the name, as it is more commonly spelled these days. Yet to find a doll that is focused on the metaphysical world and is represented with long red hair and my name, is downright funny! The universe has such a great sense of humor and when we take the time to look around, we find these synchronicities and cosmic giggles in our midst. This friend really made my day with this gift which makes me smile every time I look at the doll here in my office.
