“I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.” – Anais Nin

My home and office are surrounded by inspirational artwork, statues, and collections that allow my mind to wander and to imagine all the magic that Nature and the Universe have in their vast warehouses of knowledge.  In order to help each person connect with their inspired creative higher self, I believe that we each have a particular Muse, who is attached to certain elements, places in time and architecture, who speaks to us and when they do, there’s usually a connection to a physical space or sense that activates this conversation.

When we listen to our Muse, they guide us to inspirational ideas, which can enhance our home decor, our personal tastes and allow us to achieve our highest personal best expression.

For me, my Muse is always connected to the Sea and so over the years, I’ve gathered a significant collection of oceanic items, with a special love for starfish, seashells, pearls, and mermaids.  I have mermaid paintings and mermaid statues scattered around my home as well as seashells and starfish in almost every room.

It’s almost as if the room doesn’t feel complete to me decor wise if there’s not some semblance of the sea in each room. Just like a mermaid, as soon as I start even thinking about the beach, I come across lovely things that I want to gather for my collection,

Over time, it occurred to me that my Muse must be part mermaid in nature, and that I must be as well, for my soul feels the most joy anytime that I can be near the beach. Seeing the ocean, hearing the ocean, breathing in the salty air, it sets my soul on fire and I hear my Muse chuckling away as she knows that her attention is no longer needed at this time, for all of my creative centers have been awakened. When I’m able to spend quality time at the beach, my mind, body, spirit and aura will be recharged for days, sometimes even for weeks!

Within each of us at the soul level, is an element (earth, air, fire, water) that inspires us. Attached to each element is an Elemental, (gnome, fairy, salamander, mermaid) who guards the mystical properties of this element.  When we learn to speak from the soul level, we open up to connecting with the elements and their elementals and by doing so, the way we connect to the world and ourselves is never the same.

As a Capricorn, some people are surprised when they hear how much I connect with the element of water over earth, but I remind them that Capricorn is a sea-goat, with a mermaid’s tail. This also delves into a deeper discussion of astrology and how our rising sign and moon sign also dictate who we are astrologically. I do retain a bit of both aspects however, as I love rocky shores and indoor pools that are built around caves and rock designs.

As a person of the elemental mermaid/water element tribe, I find that the sea enhances my intuitive abilities, nurtures my emotional empathic nature and soothes and heals my aura. Truly the best prescription I can receive for healing is, get thee to the beach, where I instantly relax, unwind and let go. It wasn’t that long ago that doctors wrote prescriptions like these for their patients, that a rest in the countryside would do the person well or some time at the seashore.  They understood that the mind body spirit connection and healing began by a change of pace outside of the city and into nature, where the aura could heal the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.

salt lampIn today’s world, we often aren’t able to spend the time that we would like in the preferred natural environment of our choice. This is where the remnants of the location brought into our home can activate this energy for us and provide us with soothing bursts of etheric energy from the natural environment.

For those who are healed by the beach and can’t get there daily, I recommend a Himalayan Salt Lamp, which produces negative ions. These ions are the same type that are created when the waves crash upon the shore or from the energy of waterfalls as they hit the rocks or even from powerful thunderstorms.. These ions are known to generate energy that is felt at the mind body and spirit level, creating a more positive feeling and clearing the air, which we feel through our aura.  These salt lamps, when heated with a small bulb inside, produce these ions, reducing tension and literally filling the air with calm, soothing energy.  As an added benefit, the light generated from these lamps is simply beautiful, providing a warm glow that softly fills the room by day and as well as serving as a night light through the evening.

Is there mermaid energy in you wanting to coming out to play? Perhaps it’s time to entice them with some baubles from the beach…
