“How did it happen that their lips came together? How does it happen that birds sing, that snow melts, that the rose unfolds, that the dawn whitens behind the stark shapes of trees on the quivering summit of the hill? A kiss, and all was said.” ~Victor Hugo.
It’s Valentine’s Day and our thoughts turn to love. I love what Victor Hugo says about a kiss and had to share this quote with you here. I also came across a wonderful definition of love today, which says:
“I don’t pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you for me; love is knowing all about someone, and still wanting to be with them more than any other person, love is trusting them to tell them everything about yourself, including things you’re ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk in a room and smile at you.”-author unknown
We all define love I think, in connection to what we are looking for at the time. Love evolves over time from our teens, twenties, thirties, forties and onward. Like seasons, love evolves, what we need in the Spring of our Youth, differs from our Summer of Love. Today, I’m thinking happy thoughts of Spring and the youthful feelings of love that come with it.
On Explore Your Spirit Radio this week, I speak with Judy Ford, the author of EveryDay Love: The Delicate Art of Caring for Each Other. Judy speaks about how falling in love is easy, but sustaining love is difficult. Every Day Love includes stories from real people about how they live “loveful” lives. It offers 72 “love lesson” assignments to help readers create “an innovative love alliance.” What can you learn from reading Every Day Love? How to avoid pitfalls and celebrate the differences between yourself and your love. After all, wasn’t it curiosity about those differences that piqued your interest in the first place? It’s the delicate pinch of difference that adds the tang, the spice, and the va-va-voom. You can listen to the show here: http://www.exploreyourspirit.com/Media/shows1.shtml#FORDEVERYDAY
Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! Much love, *~Kala~*
