Imagining the World into Existence by Normandi Ellis

On this episode of Explore Your Spirit with Kala, Kala speaks with Normandi Ellis. Drawing from the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the Pyramid texts, the Book of Thoth, and other sacred hieroglyphic writings spanning the three millennia of the Egyptian Mystery Traditions, Normandi Ellis reveals the magical language of creation and words of power that enabled the ancient Egyptians to act as co-creators with the gods. Examining the power of hieroglyphic thinking–how thoughts create reality–and the multiple meanings behind every word of power, Ellis shows how, with the Neteru, we imagine the world into existence, casting a spell of consciousness over the material world. Uncovering the deep layers of meaning and symbol within the myths of the Egyptian gods and goddesses, Ellis investigates the shamanic journeys that ancient Egyptian priests used to view the unconscious and the afterlife and shares their initiations for immaculate conception, transubstantiation, resurrection, and eternal life—initiations that later became part of the Christian mystery school. Revealing the words of power used by these ancient priests/sorcerers, she explains how to search for the deeper, hidden truths beneath their spells and shows how ancient Egyptian consciousness holds the secret of life itself.

About Normandi Ellis:
Normandi Ellis, author of four books on ancient Egyptian wisdom traditions–Dreams of Isis (Quest Books, 1995), Feasts of Light (Quest Books, 1999), and Awakening Osiris (Phanes Press, 1988). Her most recent Inner Traditions book, which was coauthored with Gloria Taylor Brown, is Invoking the Scribes of Ancient Egypt: The Initiatory Path of Spiritual Journaling, which is the topic of this interview. A priestess in the Fellowship of Isis, ordained by Lady Olivia Robertson of Clonegal Castle, Ireland, Normandi leads trips through the temples of Egypt in conjunction with Shamanic Journeys and Nicki Scully. The Sphinx Mystery: The Forgotten Origins of the Sanctuary of Anubis by Robert and Olivia Temple

Kala speaks with Robert and Olivia Temple about their book The Sphinx Mystery: The Forgotten Origins of the Sanctuary of Anubis. Shrouded in mystery for centuries, the Sphinx of Giza has frustrated many who have attempted to discover its original purpose. In The Sphinx Mystery, Robert Temple with his wife Olivia address the many mysteries of the Sphinx. He presents eyewitness accounts, published over a period of 281 years, of people who saw the secret chambers and even went inside them before they were sealed in 1926–accounts that had been forgotten until the author rediscovered them. He also describes his own exploration of a tunnel at the rear of the Sphinx, perhaps used for obtaining sacred divinatory dreams.

Robert Temple reveals that the Sphinx was originally a monumental Anubis, the Egyptian jackal god, and that its face is that of a Middle Kingdom Pharaoh, Amenemhet II, which was a later re-carving. In addition, he provides photographic evidence of ancient sluice gate traces to demonstrate that, during the Old Kingdom, the Sphinx as Anubis sat surrounded by a moat filled with water–called Jackal Lake in the ancient Pyramid Texts–where religious ceremonies were held. He also provides evidence that the exact size and position of the Sphinx were geometrically determined in relation to the pyramids of Cheops and Chephren and that it was part of a pharaonic resurrection cult.

Professor Robert Temple is author of a dozen challenging and provocative books, commencing with The Sirius Mystery. His books have been translated into a total of 44 foreign languages. He combines solid academic scholarship with an ability to communicate with the mass public. He is Visiting Professor of the History and Philosophy of Science at Tsinghua University in Beijing, and previously held a similar position at an American university. For many years he was a science writer for the Sunday Times, the Guardian, and a science reporter for Time-Life, as well as a frequent reviewer for Nature and profile writer for The New Scientist. He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, and has been a member of the Egypt Exploration Society since the 1970s, as well as a member of numerous other academic societies. He has produced, written and presented a documentary for Channel Four and National Geographic Channels on his archaeological discoveries in Greece and Italy, and he was at one time an arts reviewer on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Kaleidoscope’. In 1993, his translation of the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh was performed at the Royal National Theatre in London. With his wife, Olivia, an author and artist, he is co-author and translator of the first complete English version of Aesop’s Fables, which attracted a great deal of international press attention at the time of its release, as the earlier translations had suppressed some of the fables because of Victorian prudery. Kala speaks with Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf, about their newest creation, the Anubis Oracle Cards. The Anubis Oracle is a companion to the recently released book, Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt, Awakening the Healing Power of the Heart. Both contain stand-alone information about the ancient neteru of Egypt, and each offers a unique set of direct experiences related to the Egyptian mysteries. Nicki Scully has been teaching healing and shamanic arts and the Egyptian Mysteries since 1983. Techniques from her Alchemical Healing form are used internationally by thousands of practitioners. Linda Star Wolf

Linda Star Wolf is a gifted ritualist and ceremonial facilitator who weaves together the threads of ancient and contemporary healing methods that address our current needs.
