My name is Vera Ramone. I was previously married to the legendary punk rocker Dee Dee Ramone of the “Ramones”. We met in 1977 and from that very first date we became “inseperable”. Our relationship was like a wild roller-coaster ride which eventually ended in a divorce and was finalized in 1995. He has since passed away due to a heroin overdose on June 5th, 2002. Our relationship had its fair share of super hi’s and low’s. It was outrageous, intense, passionate, loving and volatile during our many years spent together. Dee Dee’s substance abuse problems were well known and documented and the cause of our many domestic disputes and one of several reasons for our eventual “breakup”. Despite being well known for his heroin addiction, Dee Dee possessed numerous wonderful qualities, which are seldom mentioned. He was an extremely gifted and talented song writer as well as being known for his wonderful sense of humor, extremely generous nature and kind and giving heart. Towards the end of our relationship, which I found to be the hardest thing that I EVER had to go through in my life. I carried with me a tremendous feeling of sadness with mixed emotions and a lot of unanswered “What If’s”?, throughout the years. After Ronald retired from teaching, he and Jill took the Gateway course at The Monroe Institute, following that with several more courses over the years. They joined the Institute’s Professional Division and were appointed to the Board of Advisors.
