As an esoteric wisdom teacher, I share the ancient teachings from the mystery temples of Egypt and Greece. This path has led me to work directly with students who wish to study the deeper teachings as well as to share the information outwardly in books, meditations, the Explore Your Spirit show and in workshops.  My vision behind all that I do is that… ‘Spirit does not exist in just one location; rather it is all encompassing, living within and amongst us in each moment, thought and action. I believe that Spirit is raised to its highest level, when individuals gather with wisdom, compassion and a discerning desire to provide service to humanity”.

Along this journey, I’ve had the opportunity to meet an incredible array of beautiful souls, each of whom have something valuable and important to teach. Some with spirits so glorious that to simply be in their presence can provide a sense of healing and rejuvenation. Over the years, I’ve felt the energy grow and expand and during the darkest of times, I continued to share with others that I see an empowering and life-enhancing time ahead, where we evolve as a species and remember who we are and truly why we are here.

In 2002, I was in a period of deep meditation and I saw what was to come at the end of the next decade, especially to do with the advances we would make between 2016 and 2022. It led me to make this statement – ‘In this new decade, we are moving into a new age of Enlightenment. The Aquarian information from the gods can no longer be contained, the Divine Feminine is being released in all her glory and we will once again see a Renaissance period, where great art, architecture, philosophy, literature and science will develop and flourish. During this decade the greatest minds will stir, to share, to illuminate and to build and create works and ideas that will be marveled around the world.”

I then knew that the return of the Divine Feminine was here and that there were many other soul sisters like myself who were here and working to bring this time and energy forth. These women, once priestesses from the ancient temples and wise women from many lifetimes, had returned again in answer to the ancient call.

Recently I was introduced to an institute which manifested using the spirit and principles of wisdom and the Divine Feminine as their guide. The Sophia Institute, named after Sophia, the goddess of wisdom is an organization dedicated to personal and interpersonal transformation.  Their vision is to …’ look towards a world that could be called a wisdom society, a 21st century that could be called The Sophia Century: a conscious enlightened world, a compassionate global community, where wholeness, healing, sustainability, the conscious heart, deep wisdom, and the sacred feminine are at the center of life’.

I spoke with the founder of the Sophia Institute, Carolyn Rivers, to ask what inspired her to create the Institute. Carolyn replied, ‘It was a natural, organic inspiration… a moment of great clarity when what I was called to on the heart level met my destiny. I felt engaged and knew it was my assignment to create the Institute aligned to divine wisdom.  Especially now with the challenges we are facing in this world, we must all do what we are deeply called to do, so that together we co-create a whole new way to live in the world’.

At a time where many are wondering what they can do to make a difference in the world, women like Carolyn Rivers are taking action to as Gandhi said, ‘be the change you want to see in the world’.  Over the past ten years, Carolyn has formed an inspiring board of directors to assist in the development of the Sophia Institute and created a highly conscious institute offering over 50 programs a year, attracting a wide variety of spiritual seekers, teachers and visionaries from around the world. In addition, she has established the Women of Wisdom Conference (WOW), which gathers transformational and empowering women to share with each other in a weekend of celebration and exploration.

When introduced to such a space of beauty being created by so many loving and wise women, it took me right back to that day in 2002, when I saw what was to come in the next decade. There is great hope and great joy ahead. Sophia in her wise divine feminine ways, is speaking to each of us at this time and she has manifested a home in Charleston, South Carolina for all those who seek her wisdom. Do you hear her call?

I’ve been in the field of metaphysics for most of my life, spending a good portion in exploration and contemplation of the greater mysteries and the remainder of that time teaching to others.  It’s what I would describe as my calling. Each of us has hidden inside, a “calling” which stays with us throughout our lifetime. We may choose to pursue this calling or we may choose to ignore it, pushing it deep inside trying to forget that it exists, as we succumb to our fears of not measuring up or failing or being rejected by our peers.  We’ve all struggled with this at one point or another in our lifetimes.

After wrestling with this dilemma for a few minutes, including the fact that I had never tried to prove to anyone my track record of how many of my dreams came true, I let my fear go as my love and concern for my friend and her mother far outweighed anything I could imagine happening to me.  I picked up the phone, called my friend and told her my dream. To my surprise, she dismissed me. I pleaded with her, explaining that my dreams had come to pass many times before.  However, my having kept silent all these years, never sharing my experiences, left her little to go on in order to believe my dream.  She said she would see me at school and hung up.  Not giving up without a fight, I called her home again, but this time no one answered.

Later that day, my friend approached me in tears explaining that her father had called the school and that her mother had been in an accident exactly as I had described.  With tears in my eyes, I told her how very sorry I was. She turned to me, and I thought she was going to say that she wished she had warned her mother when I called that morning. Instead her eyes grew cold and she said, “What is wrong with you”? I said, “ I don’t understand, what do you mean”? And she screamed, “Something’s wrong with you, you made this happen!”  I reeled back in shock, stunned that my friend, whom I had been so close with all these years, would think that I could wish for something like this to happen to her mother. Yet she did. Nothing I could say to her at that time would comfort her and nothing would change her mind. She drifted away from me after that experience and our friendship grew to an end.

I’m not the only person to share an interest in both fields of science and spirituality. As Albert Einstein wrote, “Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind”.

I’d like to share a thought to ponder from the teachings with you here each week, that I’ll refer to as Pearl Onions…

Here’s this week’s offering  entitled:

The ancients taught about the cyclical nature of our world, referring to the seasons as they turned throughout the year. Like the seasons, we are always in the process of creating and recreating with our active/solar side and our passive/lunar side in order to achieve balance.

As humans, we must balance between periods of contemplation and introspection versus a time to take action and create, not only to nourish ourselves, but others as well.  It is called natural order.

The problems begin when we spend too much time in either of these directions, as it causes us to become out of balance.

If we stay active all of the time, there is no time for the mind, body and spirit to spend in inner contemplation and self examination. In this over-active state, we are unable to digest and process what we have experienced thus far in life.

In the other direction, if we remain too still, spending too much time in thought with no action following, we miss the opportunities provided for us to grow and expand our consciousness as only we can do in the physical world here on the earth plane.  In this state we run the risk of stagnating and entering a state which psychologists describe as analysis paralysis.

In modern life today, we have become experts in knowing how to keep and look busy in order to appear to the outside world that our life is full and to ignore the inner longings of the soul who whispers to us in the quiet of night and asks why we do not feel complete and at peace.  Then, after we run so hard for so long until our energy is depleted, we  turn to stimulants and distractions to keep from thinking about how we feel. The opportunities to do this are more plentiful than ever today with television, the internet, video games, the list goes on and on. As an example, if put to a test, many men can quote sports scores and trivia at great length and many women can quote celebrity gossip with the same intensity. Yet how many can answer the simplest of questions including – Why Don’t I Feel Happy?
