Summer Solstice is a three-day celebration of the apex of the Sun’s journey bringing light to the Earth. Though the heat of Summer is just beginning, this date actually begins the ‘metaphorical’ decline of the Sun as it embarks on its journey to the Underworld, which will culminate on December 21st,( the darkest day of the year).

This cycle also represents the stages of life that each person goes through in the physical, the spring of our youth, the summer peak of our adult years, the reaping of wisdom in our golden years of autumn and the return to spirit world in winter.

Ancient cultures including the Egyptians and Druids marked the passage of time in nature and the spirit world. They used the concepts of the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine principles found on the earth plane and the higher planes to teach about the circle of life. The story of the Oak King and the Holly King in the Druid lore or the Egyptian gods Isis and Osiris are both examples of how the seasons and cycles change.

This celebration is also known as Midsummer, the longest day of the year and the first official day of Summer. On this day, it is said that the Goddess manifests as Mother Earth and the God as the Sun King. In Celtic lore, it regarded as the best time to see fairies.

How Summer Solstice Is Celebrated

Summer Solstice is a time to celebrate and revel in the light and lighter side of life. In ancient times, most marriages were held during the month of June and the tradition called the ‘Honey Moon’ is a pagan tradition. The word honeymoon, came from the drinking of mead (made of fermented honey), which was used in wedding ceremonies held during MidSummer.

Ancient Celts lit huge bonfires in clearings and on roads to give strength to the sun and keep evil spirits at bay. People wore amulets made with herbs to protect themselves, while others leaped through bonfires for purification, good health and love.

The evening before, during and after the Summer Solstice is the most important time of the year to pay attention to your dreams. It is reported that during this three day period, that what is dreamed of, will come to fruition. It is also the time that the ‘fae’ (faries) bestow good luck upon the people and is considered to be the best day of the year to see a fairy. This magic was best popularized in Shakespeare’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

Legends state that in order to see a fairy on MidSummer’s eve, sit quietly outside with your eyes half open and gaze at a spot under a big tree. Fair/Fairy warning: if you meet a fairy, don’t eat their food or you’ll have to remain with them for seven years, (which could be a lot of fun, but will seriously wreck any plans you have made).

A Wisdom Teaching Ritual for Summer Solstice:

In my work as a wisdom teacher, I share rituals that were used in the ancient temples, while bringing them into modern day practices. The Summer Solstice is a powerful time to visualize any negative thoughts and energy burning away to nothingness.

Here is a Purification/Cleansing ritual for the Summer Solstice:

The first step is to remove any negative thoughts you are holding on to. Write down your negative feelings on paper and then release them by burning them to ash in a safe container.

The second step is to remove negative energy from the home. In order to do this, bundle rosemary and white sage together with white thread and dip the tips into a bowl of spring water and sprinkle about the house to remove negativity and cleanse and purify.

The third step is to purify and cleanse your body and energy fields. Take a shower and while doing so, visualize the water washing your negative energy away and cleansing you. Here is the ritual to say while the water is on you in the shower. Begin by taking three deep breathes, breathing deeply to inhale and removing any stagnant energy when exhaling.

Then say aloud:

Mother Earth grounds me (earth)
This deep breath restores me (air)
The rays of Father Sun nourish me. (fire)
This pure water renews me. (water)
I am filled with Pure Light as I journey forward. (spirit)

Touch your forehead and say…
Let my mind open to the truth. (divine wisdom)

Touch your lips and say….
Let my lips speak the truth. (divine communication)

Touch your heart area and say:
Let my heart seek the ways of pure love, now and always. (divine love)

Touch each palm and say:
Let my hands be gifted to work in healing ways. (divine touch)

Touch the sole of each foot and say:
Let my feet ever walk upon the sacred path. (divine journey)

Exit the shower, wrap yourself up in a robe and find a comfortable place to sit. Light a candle and drink some spring water. When comfortable, begin a 15 minute meditation, asking for your guides to join you and share with you a message they have for you this night.

2012 The Decision is Ours

As the band R.E.M. sings, “It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine…”

One of the most powerful esoteric wisdom teachings I share with students, is the knowledge that: “the only constant in life is change”. We are on this earth plane to experience change on a daily, weekly, yearly and sometimes hourly basis. Each moment, our cells change, our thoughts change, every thing changes!

In the recent presidential election, both campaigns focused on the concept of change, we collectively voted for change! This is because at our core level, we know that things should not and cannot continue in their current pattern.  Our higher selves are inspiring us to make a change. One of the reasons that we collectively feel this great need for change has to do with 2012.

The Mayan Long Count Calendar, which ends in 2012, has sparked great interest and debate around the world with researchers, scholars and mystics.   Questions remain which still have not been fully answered, such as… Why does this calendar end and What will occur on the Winter Solstice date of December 21, 2012?

On The Explore Your Spirit with Kala show, I’ve interviewed authors, researchers, and mystics about 2012 and I’ve shared what the mystery school teachings have to say on the subject.  One of the most interesting conversations on the show was with John Major Jenkins, a researcher of the ancient Mayan culture.  During this interview we spoke about how the sun was moving toward the heart of our galaxy and the profound implications this would have on every species in our universe.  The Mayan Calendar reveals this galactic transformation culminating on December 21, 2012.

As 2012 draws near, I’d like to share with you what the wisdom teachings have to say on this topic…

The unit of measure, which affects everything on Earth, is Time. Esoteric teachings explain that time is not linear, it is cyclical and it moves in expanding circles.  As with all cycles, the transformation does not begin and end on one day, rather it develops and unfolds over a period of time.  We sometimes wish for a magical moment of time, so that in an instant we are transformed with one act or one secret we stumble upon which changes everything. However, this is not the case. Even in fairy tales, we see that even when the hero finds the magical talisman, their journey does not end there, rather their journey has just begun!

Esoteric Wisdom states that: Time is the Keeper and Ruler of our universe.  During the time period of 3000 BC – 3115 BC, remarkable occurrences were happening around our planet. The first dynasty of Egypt was born, the first records of written language are recorded in Mesopotamia, the Hindu cycle of Kali Yuga began, the Sumerian civilization developed the first Monarchy and the Mayans marked this period as the beginning of their Long Count Calendar. These civilizations mark a majority of the history we use as reference points to this day.

The Mayan prophecies connected this 5000 year cycle, which began around 3100 BC and culminates in 2012. The Mayans described this cycle as the troubled times which they referred to as the 9 Hell Cycles. This cycle indicated that humanity would undergo a long period of fighting and struggling with what we called our shadow self or what others describe as our lower self or dark side.

As we near the end of this 5000 year period, we are preparing for the shift into a new cycle beginning in 2013.  The Mayan prophecies highlight a 26 year cycle with three important dates as we near the end of this calendar cycle, which were reported by Dr. Jose Arguellas during his study of the Mayan/Toltec Calendars. This cycle of 26,000 years is a period of time referred to by many other civilizations around the world besides the Mayans.  These groups also refer to the Pleiades system as our home before we lived here on Earth.

Dr. Arguellas listed three important dates in this cycle: 1987, 1999 (the mid point) and 2012, the culmination. The first date is known as The Harmonic Convergence, which began on August 16th, 1987. Dr. Arguellas’s deciphering of the Mayan calendar revealed a reference around this date, which would be felt on the earth in conjunction with our sun’s 26,000 year precession around the star system of Pleiades. The significance of the Harmonic Convergence was reputed to stir an energetic quickening felt on our planet and throughout the universe. This quickening would stimulate movement back to a balanced center, assisting in releasing the shadows and delusions created during the 9 Hell Cycles described by the Mayans. The Wisdom Teachings describe this as a preparation period to learn to open the heart and mind to a new level of consciousness and to release the delusions held by ego and the lower self.

In 1999, we reached the midpoint of this cycle and began a thirteen year period preparing us for the transformational time highlighted on Dec 21, 2012.  Many teachers say that the most important work to be done during this period is self-introspection coupled with the release of old ways which are no longer working in this new energy. As this energetic cycle shift is occurring, it is an uncomfortable situation for us all. To shift with this age, we as a species are not going to be able to continue to think and act in our soon to be outdated ways of thinking.  Our biggest struggle is wrestling with our egos and our need for control. Our biggest problem is that we are still trying to “logic this out”, thinking in third dimensional thoughts and when we try to understand this change in that frame of mind, we experience fear of the unknown.

As we move closer to the 2012 transformational cycle, we are transcending into a new consciousness. This in turn, will alter our perceptions of how we view the world.  As with any period of change, it begins with conflict and chaos, both within and without. This planetary cycle is moving out of the shadow self and into a higher level of frequency.  To do this, the shadow self must be dealt with, which begins with the illusions and delusions of the ego being exposed and confronted. As this is revealed, fear surfaces as humanity has a great need for control and when the old outdated ways of thought no longer work, a panic ensues.

The ancient Egyptians taught their students in the temple how to prepare for shifts of time. I’ll share this teaching with you now…

During this 5000 year cycle of time, which the Mayans called the 9 Hell Cycles, we have faced all aspects of our shadow self/lower self. During challenging periods such as these, we enter into Maya (illusion) in order to make sense of what is occurring around us as we feel a sense of separateness from the light. During this period, we convinced ourselves that it is through the mind where wisdom is received.  The esoteric teachings maintain that the heart is where wisdom resides and the heart is the key to unlocking the divine mysteries. It is through the heart that the transformation and evolving cycle takes place.  As we move closer to the cosmic heart of the galaxy, our current logic will not assist in this process, rather we must open our hearts to prepare for the conscious connection and transformation. This is a hermetic axiom referred to as: As Above, So Below. What exists in the Universe above, is reflected within us below. The heart in our body is the center of our universe. The Sun is the heart of our Universe above. During this current transformation, as the Sun moves closer to the cosmic heart of the galaxy, so must we open our hearts within to prepare for the conscious connection and transformation.

This is the moment we have been waiting for, the reason we are here now. You have a front row, 50 yard line VIP pass to participate in the turning of an age, felt by both heaven and earth. This is the reason that you wonder why you are here and what you are meant to do. Why you think about preparing for an event when you have no clear idea of what that event is or how it will happen. It is unfolding around you in this very moment.

What you do each day, brings energy to this shift. Too often, we long for a breath-taking moment, rather than realizing that each moment is sacred.

Each day drawing closer to 2012 is an opportunity to open your heart, face your fears and shift into the light being that you are at the core level.

Of course it’s going to be difficult. Of course we’re going to face times of uncertainty and self-doubt. We’re in the culmination of a 26,000 year cycle of change and things are going to get messy.  Some of us have families that have a complete melt down in the morning if we’re out of a certain breakfast cereal and now we’re talking about an energetic change to affect the entire planet and 6 billion human inhabitants along with the animal, flora, fauna and mineral kingdoms. Things are going to get messy. The answer isn’t about avoiding change, it’s about taking what you’ve learned all these lifetimes and putting it into action. Our graduation date is upon us and our Senior Year is 2012.

This is our time to look beyond what appears to be the dark and see the light that is there, always present.  We are in a shadow time, which has been created by the collective doubts and fears of humanity.

Remember, not only is this earth transcending into a new age, but so are we, soul, by soul, by soul.

2012 is an interesting time, but I tell you what interests me more. It’s what begins in 2013.  I  interviewed Drunvalo Melchizedek on the Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show, where we discussed his new book and the Return of the Divine Feminine. What he had to say about the new cycle of time coming is fascinating and gives me great hope for our future.

What should you do to prepare for 2012?.  Use this time to go within to see what you need to clean out and let go. Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval have recently written a new book, The Master Game: Unmasking the Secret Rulers of the World which is published by The Disinformation Company. Graham Hancock is a bestselling author of non-fiction in the alternative history genre, perhaps best known for Fingerprints of the Gods. His two major British TV series (Quest for the Lost Civilisation, 1998, and Flooded Kingdoms of the Ice Age, 2002) put his ideas in front of audiences of millions and his books have been translated into 27 languages and have sold more than five million copies worldwide.

Rogue Egyptologist Robert Bauval was born in Egypt in 1948. A construction engineer, his interest in Egyptology is long standing, having lived in Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East for much of his life. In the 1980s he developed a line of study linking the pyramids and the so-called Pyramid Texts with astronomy and famously published the bestselling The Orion Mystery.

Their publicist (Warwick Associates) has released part of Chapter 19 of the The Master Game book and given permission for me to share this here with you in order to find out more about the book and why Hancock and Bauval felt it was important to share this information.  The following is a partial excerpt from the book:

THE CORNERSTONE

If a monument or a building – or even, as we now can see, a whole city – can become like a living heart, a talisman charged with powerful ideologies and meaning, then the ‘pacemaker’ of such a talisman must be its cornerstone.

In ancient times, and in many different cultures, the dedication ceremony for a new temple or stately monument often called for elaborate rituals performed by the ruler. During such ceremonies the objective was to call upon a god or goddess to cast his or her benevolent and protective powers on the building – or even to beseech the deity to descend from the heavenly world and reside within the temple. A crucial element was the placing of a permanent marker to commemorate the ceremony, generally in the form of the ‘first stone’ or ‘cornerstone’.

In medieval Europe, in direct continuation of such ancient ideas, the laying of the cornerstone for a church or cathedral was understood to symbolise the ‘raising of the building into the light of day, into consciousness or towards the heavens.’ In this respect it was vital that the most propitious moment be selected when participants could be assured that the influences of the stellar and planetary deities were at their very best. To that end a ‘horoscope’ was cast.

The ‘Raising’ of Washington

On 18 September 1793, a little more than a month after the ‘Isis’ ceremony was held at the Place de la Bastille in Paris, another ceremony laden heavily with specific symbolic referents took place on a high point known as Jenkins Hill on the other side of the Atlantic. At the climax of this ceremony, America’s first president, George Washington, wearing a Masonic apron which had been presented to him by the Marquis de Lafayette, laid the cornerstone of the US Capitol in the presence of a congregation of high-ranking Freemasons.

George Washington became a Freemason in 1752 in Fredericksburg, and was ‘raised’ as a Master Mason the following year. In 1777, when the Freemasons in the American colonies sought to form a ‘United’ Grand Lodge independent from England, they offered the position of Grand Master to Washington, but he modestly declined, saying that he was not qualified for this high office. In 1788, however, he did become Master of the Alexandria lodge, today known as the Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22, situated on the south side of the Potomac River near the city of Washington, DC. Since 1932 this famous lodge has been engulfed within a huge Masonic monument built around it. The monument is modeled on the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria in Egypt, the Pharos, and bears the official name of the George Washington Masonic National Monument. According to Harvey Wiley Corbett of the New York firm Helmle & Corbett who designed this monument:

… the Pharos was erected to guide the ancient mariners safely to shore; what would be more appropriate than a facsimile of that Lighthouse in Alexandria, Virginia on top of the highest hill and overlooking the Potomac River?

Isis of New York, a Talisman to ‘Liberty’

The idea of a similar monument to commemorate the friendship between France and the United States for the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence was first discussed by Bartholdi and others at the home, near Paris, of Édouard René de Laboulaye, an authority on North American culture. It seems that Bartholdi simply ‘converted’ his original project for Egypt and proposed it instead as a ‘Statue of Liberty enlightening the world’ for New York. To this end the so-called Union Franco-Américaine (Franco-American Union) was established in 1875 to raise the necessary funds.

Here’s what the Reader’s Companion to American History has to say about the inspiration behind the Statue of Liberty:

Sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi combined elements of the Egyptian pyramids he admired with his mother’s face to serve as a model for the statue, which he finished early in 1884.

There has been much dispute about whether the face of the Statue of Liberty was modelled on that of Bartholdi’s own mother, and the matter, though trivial, has not been settled. What is more certain is that the statue was linked to the ‘cult of Liberty’ or the ‘Cult of Reason’ of the French Revolution, both of which, in the minds of Republicans, were intimately connected to Masonic ideals. It is certain, too, as we saw in Chapter One, that figures representing ‘Liberty’ and ‘Reason’ were often modelled on the Egyptian goddess Isis or her Greek and Roman counterparts.

Interestingly, according to French Egyptologist Bernard Mathieu, Bartholdi used to refer to the Statue of Liberty as the ‘Pharos’ before it was raised in New York, and he even designed a base for the statue just like the one believed to have been used for the ancient Pharos of Alexandria. Bartholdi, who had spent much time in Egypt and had studied the origins of this ancient ‘wonder of the world’, would certainly have known the association of the Pharos with the goddess Isis – and, by extension, her star, Sirius – that we explored in Chapter Ten. In this respect, it seems highly likely that his giant statue of ‘a robed woman holding aloft a torch’ to serve as a sort of lighthouse for the

Suez Canal and, later, for New York Harbor, may well have been imagined by him as Isis-Pharia and the Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Originally published in 1928, Manly P. Hall’s, The Secret Teachings of All Ages was previously only available in a handsomely bound, large size and expensive edition. Though certainly a collector’s item and treasure for any library, I was happy to discover that Penguin with the Philosophical Research Society has republished the book in a paperback version, making it affordable for the masses.

Hall’s ‘encyclopedia’ covers the esoteric mysteries from around the world, including ancient occult traditions, esoteric mystery schools and temples, religion and philosophy, ancient symbols and myths, and offers a glimpse into a vast library of teachings including Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrusian symbolic philosophy.

From the Druidic mysteries of ancient Britain, to the Gnostics, Mithras, the Eleusinian Mysteries, and Plato’s ponderings, to the Oracle of Delphi, Pythagorus, and Egypt, the 755 page tome answers many questions for the aspiring occult or esoteric student and includes illustrations.

Author Manly P. Hall (1901-1990) was widely regarded as a a sage and teacher, steeped in the wisdom of antiquity and one of the leading esoteric scholars of the twentieth century. In his book, The Golden Thread of Time, Crichton explores the ancient scientific and spiritual wisdom that has shaped our present and still influences our future. He reveals a forgotten system that reaches back beyond the current established religions, further than Ancient Egypt or Sumerian into an age where Mankind lived in harmony with Nature.

Kala: Crichton, welcome to the ‘Quick Five’. You’ve written a book entitled The Golden Thread of Time. How did you become interested in this topic and its history?

Crichton: Hello Kala and hello to your readers, thank you for asking me to share my work, you are quite correct, I have written a book called the Golden Thread of Time which was published in 2001. There are many esoteric reasons for the title, which can be interpreted on many levels of consciousness by the reader.

To answer the second part of the question, How did you become interested in this topic and its history? I want to share a passage from the Bhagavad-Gita with you:

‘The living entity, bewildered by ignorance, desires to be put in certain conditions of life, thereby his or her chain of action and reaction begins. A living entity is, by superior Nature, full of knowledge’.

As a living entity, I decided not to be bewildered by ignorance and so was put in unique and unusual conditions of life which allowed a different chain of action and reaction than was the norm for my peers. I decided to search the world both inner and outer to find the answers I needed that released the forgotten knowledge I hold within me. Each one of us is Life Being Human and we are all collective in the true nature of the word individual which really means indivisible from the Duality. It has always been essential for our survival as a family, tribe, clan, business or country to have unified collective beliefs whether they are right or wrong. This essential element is designed to allow a society to perpetuate itself in balance and harmony in an environment that is specifically designed to return all systems to chaos after a period of time. To understand this truth requires a knowledge of the true nature of time and to work with it. That is what our ancestors managed to do over thousands of years until their great civilisations collapsed and died. In each of these collapses, much was destroyed and only a few fragments remain which are either misunderstood or deliberately abused. I set out to find some of these fragments and piece them together using reason and common sense. That process allowed me to discover the methods used by our ancestors to keep time, measure the earth and construct buildings embodying the knowledge of the Nature of this world for posterity.

In my research, I have discovered that the very thing that saves us from instability in one set of circumstances can also destroy us if we adhere to it when those circumstances have changed. As we have become more secular in modern times we find that that very secularity creates conflict with the collective well being. Topic in the ancient sense of the word comes from the Greek and is a class of considerations and arguments’ on which a rhetorician may draw.

My rhetorical topic then is this: History as we understand it is in error because those that wrote it felt that to expose the true nature of the world to the masses would bring chaos into society. When corruption worked its way into the Church and Crown the rebellion which resulted in the destroyed Royalty throughout Europe and discredited the Roman Catholic Church leading to fragmentation of Christianity. Some critical thinkers in the past saw the duplicity and hypocrisy clearly and separated themselves from the old ways of thinking preferring rational and provable evidence, but those who blindly maintained the system fought to preserve it at all costs. In other words a battle line was drawn up between science and church. The result was a descent into secularity with deep divisions appearing between the spiritual and the practical. The worldly process has gained dominance through the linear thought patterns created by Darwin who argued continued improvement of the species through natural selection.

The truth I argue is that Science and Spirituality are indivisible and therefore our ancestors practised science too but with the addition of a spiritual world view giving superiority to Nature as a whole and accepting our reduced role in a holistic approach. It is my argument that Humanity is entering another stage in the journey which could result in the destruction of our society as we know it and a return to a Dark Age or a step forward into a sane and balanced future. The Maya predict this as 2012 but the process is already beginning where world economies fail and Nature attacks us on all quarters.

The proof of this fall is a historical and cyclical evidence that all failed civilisations descend into secularity while the barbarian enters the back door. Before we can rebuild we need to uncover the truth and re learn a system that allows us to live in balance with those awesome forces. The word Temple means a place of measuring Time using the movements of the heavens as does the word Church. To measure anything requires a balanced holistic instrument which is both spiritual and practical. That original instrument is the cross with the wheel and it is the archetype and embodiment of all measuring instruments and mathematical principles that we employ in science today.

Kala: Is the Celtic Cross a scientific instrument as well as a sacred symbol? How did ancient people use the cross in architecture, philosophy and geometry? Did they also use the cross in combination with the zodiac and the pyramids?

Crichton: The Celtic cross is the key to understanding how our ancestors thought and survived and therefore it is both a scientific and a sacred instrument of the highest importance. Without studying its functions, no one can understand the ancient mysteries. I put together a theory that there must have been an archetype instrument that has remained elusive to archaeologists, historians and archaeoastronomers. I discovered that there was one in the Great Pyramid of Giza in the Queens Chamber that was discovered in 1872, parts of which lie in the British Museum and set about reconstructing it. Science is about measuring and testing which is what I have done. Make no mistake about its scientific credibility, since it has gained two British Patents as a surveying, astronomical and navigation instrument. I own by law and design the gift of the working Celtic Cross, Wodens Wheel, The Sun Cross, and any other derivation of our ancestors greatest sacred instrument that actually makes physical spherical geometric measurements. The Great Spirit of Creation and the Spirit of our ancestors gave it to me and me alone out of millions of people on our planet.

As Don Ajlehandro, Chief Mayan Elder and Spiritual Leader of his people said to me at a Sun Ceremony in 1998 I have been chosen and I am predicted in the Mayan Glyph ” Man with a Purpose”. and that “Our Jesus Christ was crucified on the sign of his own science and spirituality”. In time gone by, some of our ancient ancestors specialised in agricultural lifestyles and others were land and seafaring hunter gatherers that eventually became wandering herdsmen . Both of these lifestyles require the practical and spiritual understanding of time and place and the only way to do this successfully was to study the predictable motions of the sun, moon and planets against the fixed back ground stars. Geometry, which literally means earth measurement, comes from astrology which means star logic, or mathematics. You see, each star follows an imaginary line and is always directly above a point on the earth on that line at least once a day as the planet spins, consequently all the natural numbers of measurement come from this knowledge. It is the meaning of the word to Rule or measure. There were adepts who were chosen by their people or tribe and that knew how to measure for the benefit of society who were called Rulers as is the simple instrument used in every school today.

A Rulers service to humanity was to measure the value of produce, measure land ownership, create the Rule of Law and predict future events. They were the real Lords of Time and could divine Time. That is why it is called the Divine Right of Kings chosen by the group for their talents given by the Gods. The Rulers became so sophisticated that they created the natural numbers we still use today from the motions of the heavenly bodies. Genesis Verse 14. 15 and 16 in the Holy Bible instructs us exactly how they did this. They made signs in the stars that were similar to objects on the earth in their local area so that the generations that came after them would understand. Because they believed in reincarnation those signs were placed in myth , word, stone and wood constructions so as to be preserved to remind them of what they already knew in a previous life if and when they were re born. This was science to them although they did not call it that, and I cannot argue that they were unscientific in their theories and conclusions based on observation, measurement, and construction. The pyramid complex at Giza is one such example where the Ruler incorporated the mathematics of the stars into a format of indestructible stone. It is said that Sir Isaac Newton worked out the rate of luni-solar precession at the pyramid complex. Well, he would, since there is nothing to work out, it was all done for him thousands of years ago, the pyramids tell us the rate of precession as well as giving us the circumference of the earth, and the speed of the moon apart from hundreds of other mysteries. You only have to know how to look and it becomes obvious.

Our ancestors, whom we disrespect if we apportion their skills to aliens in space ships, believed that failure to remember and understand the Natural Laws would lead future generations into chaos and cause the eventual destruction of our civilisation and possibly our species. Ancient people believed that our planet that they saw as the Mother and the Sun that they saw as the Father were vastly superior living thinking entities that held complete dominion over us. They also considered that each entity on the planet had a Spirit which the Egyptians called Neteru from which the word Nature is derived. The word Scientific means making systematic, exact knowledge and the working Celtic cross does exactly that.

Kala: Is the cross a Time keeper? How was it used with water clocks?

Crichton: The cross is not a timekeeper but rather the only logical instrument capable of measuring the Natural cycles of time using the exact motions and positions of the moon, sun and planets as they travel along the ecliptic plane. It was the person using the cross was the Time Keeper. What allowed my patent was the upright arm on the top of the cross which makes it unique . It is because of the top arm that sidereal or horizontal measurements can be taken and no other archaic instrument such as the Egyptian Merkhet, quadrant, astrolabe, octant, cross staff or sextant can achieve that level of spherical geometry or accuracy. The problem with observing the stars and planets is that it can only be done when the sky is clear and there is an uninterrupted view of the sky and horizon. Water clocks and sand timers allow time to be kept and them re calibrated when the sky becomes clear again.
Kala: The history of the cross begins with ancient Shamanism, through the burning of Alexandria and its rediscovery 500 years later by the Knights Templar, resulting in communication with the Amerindians before Columbus and eventual excommunication from the Roman Catholic Church. How did the meaning of the cross become hidden and lost in our full view?

Crichton: The original Rulers were Shaman. They communicated with the Nature Spirits at all levels for the benefit of their tribes either naturally or through drug enhanced sensitive mental states. This ancient skill is called Animism because they communicated with the “Over Spirit” of each species or element that were of either of service or threat to them and sought advice from their ancestors. My abilities and the gift of the cross make me a throwback or incarnation of those ancient people, I use these powers in everyday life and business to protect those who rely on me. Shaman looked for meaningful forms and omens in rocks, water, clouds, trees, fire and the stars, a process we call Simulacra today. Much of this way of life can be seen in the remnants of the Amerindian practices including Totems and dressing up in bird and animal forms. The Signs in the heavens were originally animism and simulacra as can be seen from the Greek word Zodiac which literally means wheel of animals. Ancient Egypt was the peak culmination of an enormous length of Human time we like to call the Stone Age which was eventually conquered by the Greeks under Alexander the Great. Eventually a great library was founded in Alexandria which housed countless papyrus scrolls with the history and techniques learned over countless millennia. Many of these ancient books fed the philosophy of Greece and its Arab neighbours before being deliberately destroyed by fire. What little scraps of knowledge that were saved were scattered far and wide with some ending up in Jerusalem, Timbuktu and Constantinople, but the unified history and science of the astrological ages of Aries and Taurus were lost forever.  It is from Constantinople that we find sea Charts or Portolans such as the ‘Admiral Pirie Reis maps’ that describe the ability to find both latitude and longitude a thousand years before it was supposedly discovered with the invention of the stable Chronometer by Harrison in the 1700′s.

It should be remembered that Constantinople which houses the great Temple Sophia was the seat of the founder of the Roman Catholic Church Constantine who changed the Christian Piscean sign of the Fish for the Cross which was from his Gaul homeland, already ancient the cross was known to northern Celtic tribes as Wodens Wheel. It was reputedly Constantine’s wife who discovered the real cross in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem band whereas history records this discovery as a Relic it is more likely the source of early Christendom’s great knowledge and power. The word Church comes from the words Kirk meaning ruler and Cerise meaning circle and so properly translated means measurer of the circles. Since the name Templar is associated with the Latin word Tempus meaning Time we can see its dualistic role as keepers of the Temple and Time keeping.

The combination of Time keeping and earth measurement along with more ancient Portolans allowed the powerful Templar fleet to trade with the Amerindian cultures while perpetuating the myth in the Dark Ages that the world was flat. The secret eventually leaked and the Templar’s were captured and tortured to find this valuable source of gold and new land that had made the order so rich. There is only one ancient instrument that can find longitude without running two mechanical time pieces and that is the cross and plumb line calibrated with astrology and a carefully kept almanac showing the position of the retrograde moon against the ecliptic stars and Venus. This gave enormous power to the Church and they would kill and burn to protect the knowledge from those outside the hierarchy. They set about conquering the New World and the rest is history. However, there is two simple clues to the deceit, one is the Diego Ribero Chart of 1510 which is in the Vatican showing the world in perfect longitude including both sides of the Americas and two hundred years before longitude was discovered and the Saxton Map of England in the 14th Century with Wells Cathedral at Glastonbury as the centre of the meridian with longitude graduations along the southern edge.

Wells Cathedral had the first 24 hour clock which made it England’s first mechanised Temple. In defence of the map which the headline boasted “Did they have GPS in the Middle Ages” and was recently sold for a fortune it was pointed out that this highly accurate and anomalous map had to be kept secret so as to protect the country from invaders. If you know what I have learned you can read the messages in all churches and cathedrals about the importance and creativity of Time. It has been hidden in full public view because the Church can say on the Day of Judgment that the knowledge was left available to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. But just in case, it was forbidden on pain of death to hold the Cross any other way other than upright.

Kala: The research explores how a Star Cult was born of necessity, which then led to the concepts of a Sun God in Heaven that still exists in fragmented form today. Can you explain the history behind these concepts?

Crichton: If we don’t know the time, we are lost, If we don’t know the place, we are lost, If we don’t know where we came from, we are lost, If we don’t know where we are going, we are lost. We have become disconnected, forgetting our past, blind to the obvious, frightened of the future, bewildered about our own existence through secularity and singularity. Our ancestors were not because they kept time by the natural motions and rhythms of the sun and moon, seeing all Nature as one expression of Life in all its diversity and consciousness maintaining balance. To observe the position of the signs in the zodiac was essential for planning to intercept migrating herds or fish, collecting berries and fungi each by its month and season.
We only have to realise that the moon has 12 orbits of the earth in a year which is why a month is really a moon-th .That its speed over the earth’s surface is 720 arc minutes per hour and its influence on the earth’s tilt that causes the seasons is 1 degree every 72 years to begin to understand what they knew and we have forgotten.

The 3000 year old Pagan Gold Wizards hats from Europe incorporate the 18.6 year Metonic cycle or Enneadecaeteri reputedly discovered by Meton of Athens a thousand years later.  Through stellar observation, they learned to sow and reap at the right time as conditions on the planet changed throughout the year because of the natural obliquity to the sun. Appreciation of the spirit of the moment and perfect harmonious timing became a star cult with its own feast days, celebrations, percussion, music, singing and dancing at regular times for various purposes kept by the Rulers and Priests. Each precessional Age was named, so Egyptian for the Age of Aries which commenced with the building of the Great Pyramid of Khufu is Amen which is put on the end of the Christian Lord’s Prayer today. However the name Pharaoh (which means Great House) and the living God was often named in this way Tut Ankh Amen, which translates as Wisdom and life of Aries Amen-Ra means the Creator Ra(Sun) in the Age of(Amen) Aries a kind of composite concept between the sun and the Time The moon was vital because she caused fertility in women and the Sun was the source of all Life. Each heavenly body and constellation was measured every moment and the priests referred to as Followers of Horus(Time) were the Watchers in huge temples from Stonehenge to Giza and on all continents across vast oceans separated by water and time. The watch on our wrist has a hand that is a pointer to the sun and the mechanical clock is directly descended from the mathematics of the Zodiac calibrating the position of the sun as it moves over the spinning earth, before we mechanised it and became disconnected, we knew that we are its energy and without it we have nothing.

The Sun passes its rays of energy to the earth and feeds the leaves on the trees and the grass in the fields, watering them and keeping them warm. We eat that energy second hand through food and that food becomes us and we become that energy. People were taught to bless and respect food because it would become part of us and become as enlightened as we are because we are what we eat. We are all sons and daughters of the Sun and the Sun is our Life and we are the Life, each one of us is of the sun and the earth and our own family genetics or blood line. Christ on the cross is the Sun at the winter solstice, fixed in the moment of death pinned to the wheel of Time before being resurrected. The ancients knew that when the sun dies every winter solstice it stands still for three days and like the image of Christ on the time piece(Cross) the sun rises to bring new life to our frozen north. They saw that the crops and insects plants and trees are renewed and felt that we were no different because Heaven told them so through observation. It was Akhenaton that displaced all the Neteru and the Creative force of the moment (Amen)with the monotheistic Sun God. But he did not know that the Sun is but one star amongst billions in the Creation of the Great Spirit.

In a few years I shall pass away from this mortal body and if I am fortunate I will see the world again through the eyes of those yet to be born, but the last prayer I make is this one, that I may take Human form in the Golden Thread of Time and be born into a Golden Age of peace and beauty that is not become mad with illusion and lies that breed fear.

Here is the poem I wrote in 2000 just before 911 when the world of Men was shaken and changed forever.

‘The Golden Thread of Time
Chaos rules the world of Man and Nature in the moment of now,
Order will return for as moment in the cycle of the times,
but the World will never die,
The Vine of Man may wither and pass away.
They who are to walk the earth
Will spin beneath the ruthless eye of Starry Serpent
and watch the hoary twelve sail by with Orion at the helm
and will they see the sun give life by day?
As did we,
and live in balance with the world
For a while.
New Birth will come and Ma-at return,
New eyes may greet the rising of the Sun,
In distant future, another kind may taste the living air of ancient dead and rise in life from the dust of ages.
To wonder once again at the stars and keep the Time to sail on wind and tide.
What clothes will you wear my love?
and how shall I recognise thee?
Will we be as One as once before?
When we meet again in this ship of Life, in distant times,
On the Golden Thread of Millions of Years’.

On March 3rd, 2008 I entered a previously overlooked large tomb on the Giza plateau. I had come to this neglected area, west of the Great Pyramid, following new information that was set to challenge everything we know about the evolution of Giza’s famous monuments. In 1817 Henry Salt (1780-1827), the British Consul General in Egypt, an avid explorer and collector of Egyptian antiquities, recorded how he and Italian explorer Giovanni Caviglia (1770-1845), entered a network of Catacombs beneath the plateau, exploring them for a distance of “several hundred yards”. Even though they chanced upon three large, interconnected chambers, the two men abandoned their search and returned to the surface, having come upon no gold or treasure. What they did uncover has never been made public, and Salt’s memoirs recording their work remained unpublished until 2007, the site of the Catacombs being lost in the process.

Underworld of the Soul

What Salt and Caviglia found back in 1817 is of immense importance to the Egyptological world, for rumours concerning the existence of a lost underworld at Giza go back to the Pyramid age. Ancient Egyptian creation texts, as well as an assortment of funerary literature, i.e. books of the dead, speak of a hellish realm of darkness called the Duat, guarded by demons and snakes, which has to be navigated by the soul of the deceased to achieve rebirth and an afterlife among the stars.

In an ancient Egyptian funerary text called the Am-duat, the “Book of that which is in the Underworld”, the Duat is ruled by the falcon-headed god Sokar. He was patron of the sprawling cemeteries and pyramid fields that served the ancient city of Memphis, and in particular those at Rostau, the ancient name for Giza. Archaeologists have found textual evidence of the existence in South Giza of an important shrine to Sokar honouring something called the Shetayet, a name given to the Tomb of Osiris.

Adding to the belief that a physical representation of the pharaoh’s underworld existed at Giza is its ancient name, Rostau, which means something like the “mouth of the passages”. In the fourth-century AD Graeco-Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus (fl. AD 360-390), wrote of “subterranean fissures and winding passages called syringes” beneath the Pyramids, constructed before a great deluge in order that the memory of the ceremonies of the ancients might not be destroyed.

Arab travellers recorded similar tales. These spoke of subterranean passages created beneath the Great Pyramid by a legendary king named Saurid to preserve his race’s knowledge of the arts and sciences in advance of a cataclysm involving fire from heaven and a subsequent deluge.

As far back as the ninth century the ruling caliph, al-Mamoun, spent an enormous amount of energy tunnelling a hole through into the Great Pyramid hoping to find gold and treasure. This he failed to do, but those who came after him continued the trend, forever searching for hidden entrances to subterranean tunnels and vaults that were said to connect the Great Pyramid with the nearby Sphinx monument.

Wonderful Discoveries

Having determined to locate Salt’s lost Catacombs, I sought the help of the Association for Research and Enlightenment of Virginia Beach, VA, the research wing of the Edgar Cayce Foundation. Since the mid 1970s they have sponsored research expeditions in the hope of locating the lost Hall of Records, the name given to Giza’s lost underworld by their founding mentor Edgar Cayce (1877-1945). With their support our team made preparations to fly out to Egypt.

My intention was to investigate a seemingly unrecorded tomb west of the Great Pyramid that was in the search area indicated by Salt’ newly-discovered memoirs as concealing the entrance to the lost catacombs. This same general area of the plateau conformed to a ground-sky star correlation involving the stars of the constellation of Cygnus, the celestial swan, known also as the Northern Cross. In ancient Egyptian funerary texts Cygnus would appear to have signified the womb, navel and even the site of the vulva of a sky-goddess named Nuit, who is personified in the night sky as the Milky Way. It was in the terrestrial counterpart of Nuit’s womb, the so-called Shetayet, that the god Osiris achieved transformation into an ascended being, and there seemed every good reason to conclude that Salt’s Catacombs were the entrance to this underworld realm, lost to the world for thousands of years.

Having reached the tomb on camels that eventful day in March 2008, Egyptological researcher Nigel Skinner Simpson, my wife Sue Collins and I explored its every nook and cranny without discovering the entrance to any lost Catacombs. About to move on to other nearby tombs to continue the search there, we noticed a crack in a rock face, once sealed by a mud brick wall. Peering inside, an incredible sight greeted us – a vast cave chamber filled with rock debris, and enhanced here and there to make it more rectangular in appearance.

Hesitantly, I descended into the darkness, as flocks of bats exited the entrance, disturbed by this rude intrusion into their natural habitat. After exploring the opening chamber and various side compartments, I entered a long cave tunnel that headed in the direction of Giza’s Third Pyramid. In the pitch darkness, I navigated a seemingly never ending carpet of fallen rocks and boulders. The uneven floor, thwart with dangerous cracks and hollows, was covered with animal bones, most likely those of camel carcasses dragged in by hyenas.

Dangers in the Darkness

Reaching a natural bifurcation in the cave tunnel, I felt it the right time to double back and return to the surface, having taken some 20 minutes to travel just 80-90 metres. On subsequent visits, Sue and I penetrated the darkness for a much greater distance, before we began suffering the ill effects of oxygen starvation. Adding to our problems was the constant threat of life-threatening diseases associated with bats and bat guano, as well as the shocking discovery in the caves of a species of spider that we tentatively identified as the white widow.

Clearly, we had not found Cayce’s Hall of Records, or the legendary Tomb of Osiris. Yet in the deepest cave compartment reached we found lightly incised parallel lines on the walls, as well as other evidence of untouched archaeological features, giving hope that the caves might provide firm evidence of human activity on the plateau going back before even the Pyramid age. The cave complex’s existence might even throw new light on the ancient Egyptians’ belief in a Duat underworld existing at Giza in its role as Rostau, the “mouth of the passages”.

Snake Guardian

Most extraordinary of all is the story told to us by an elderly tomb guardian, who we encountered in the vicinity of the Tomb of the Birds. He refuses point blank to enter the caves. When asked why, the man, who wore a headscarf and traditional galabeya, said that they were the abode of a giant snake called el-Hanash. Apparently, it is “nine meters (30 feet)” long, and anyone attempting to enter el-kahf (Arabic for “the cave”) will be squeezed to death in its powerful coils. It is a fable, of course, yet one that echoes the very ancient belief that snakes of great size inhabited the Duat underworld, a tradition that persisted into Roman times with the belief that beneath the Great Pyramid reposed a god in the form of a huge serpent called Agathodaimon, the “good spirit”.

I later learnt more about the mysterious el-Hanash. One story told to me by a local craftsman in Nazlet el-Samman, the village of the Pyramids, related how this underworld serpent protects the entrance to the “Hall of Records”. He will spit venom in the face and blind anyone who attempts to steal the great “diamond” it protects. Yet one day a chosen one will enter the caves and el-Hanash will blind them in just one eye. This person will go on to enter the Hall of Records and find the great jewel that has the power to bestow on them great powers.

It is a strange tale, tainted by modern new age thought, although it seems to echo the ancient Egyptian belief that the Underworld of the Soul, or Tomb of Osiris, contains a power object that radiates an unearthly light. Clearly, nothing like this was found in the caves by Salt and Caviglia. Yet they left this underground world only partially explored, as we did ourselves, offering hope that one day this mystery will finally be revealed. Until then, it remains safely under the protection of el-Hanash.
