The solar and lunar eclipse cycles this year (full moon eclipse on June 26 and solar new moon eclipse on July 11) will have the greatest effect on the cardinal signs of Capricorn, Aries, Libra and Cancer, especially those born early in the sign. For Capricorns, early in the sign would be those with December birthdays. These eclipses bring their strongest energy three days before and after the actual event dates, which has the July eclipse effect being felt beginning on the 8th. The after-effects of an eclipse continue to be felt for another six months.

The current powerful eclipse cycle marks a time of great change, and brings to a head decisions of priorities between home and career. An example of this eclipse in action is with NBA star Lebron James, born December 30, 1984, making him a Capricorn, who has just announced his decision to join the Heat in Miami.

This undoubtably was a tough decision for Lebron, an Ohio native, to leave Cleveland as he had spent the last seven years there with the team, giving them all that he had heart and soul. The intensity of the eclipse, which allows no room for complacency, may have given him that extra push to make a dramatic change in his career and leave home. By all accounts, joining the Heat in Miami will take his career to the next level and meet his ultimate goal of winning a championship.

Eclipses bring things to a head and sound the clarion call to action. While many fear the swift changes that eclipses bring, in the long run they can be seen as helping to shake people from situations where they needed to make a change and were stalling for one reason or another. Eclipses open your eyes and leave you little room to continue to live as you were.

The eclipse in late June was an especially difficult and challenging period for Capricorns and Cancers and may have had them second guessing their decisions. It is highly possible that Lebron only made peace with his decision to go to Miami on July 8th, as the new eclipse delivers a more soothing energy in comparison to the one in June.

Lebron has just made the biggest decision of his career by choosing to move to Miami to play for the Heat. This move potentially will create the most powerful and popular dream team in basketball, the last perhaps being with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippin.

Looking into the future at Lebron’s relationships with the Heat, April 22,1987 is the date when the NBA selected the Miami Heat as an expansion team, so their birthday can be listed as this date, making the team ruled by Taurus, which is a compatible sign for Lebron as a Capricorn, especially in financial dealings. Astrologically, this eclipse also marks a fortuitous time for Capricorns when searching for real estate, so the timing is right for Lebron to find his dream home in Miami.

The last time an eclipse affected Capricorn at this level, was June 26, 1991. What occurred during that time will be similar to what occurs this year. Lebron would have been 6 years old, turning 7 in December of that year. It would be interesting to know if he decided that basketball was his love at this young age while he was in elementary school and what else was happening in his life at that time in order to compare.

An octopus named Paul (hatched in Dorset, England in 2008) has accurately predicted the winner of each game during the World Cup. Paul, who now lives at the Sea Life Center in Oberhausen, Germany, makes his prediction using his nine brains, three hearts and soothsaying ability, and now stands with an impressive record of 6-0.

To determine each winner, he chooses between two boxes which one he will open first and then eat the mussels from inside. Each individual box has the national flag representing the teams playing, the one that Paul pulls the mussels from first, is declared his pick for the winner. To date, Paul has been 100% accurate in his choices.

Dubbed the ‘eight-legged oracle’, he shocked his home country by predicting Spain to win over Germany, which has led to him receiving death threats. The response in Spain was more positive with Spain’s Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero quoted as saying that he wished to send a protective team to watch over the octopus. In addition, according to the Washington Post, celebrity chef Jose’ Andres has removed octopus from the menu of all of his U.S. restaurants in honor and appreciation of Paul.

Octopuses have a very low life expectancy, some only live up to six months and others to five years. They are recognized as one of the most intelligent animals in the ocean, with research showing that they exhibit both short and long term memory. They are known as incredible escape artists and frequently break free from their aquariums to move into other tanks. Some reports claim that they have boarded ships and open holds in search of crabs.

‘The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefore the physician must start from nature, with an open mind.’ – Philipus Aureolus Paracelsus.

In the ancient mystery temples, healing techniques and procedures were designed with the individual in mind. The patient would meet with a team of physicians (healers) who worked in connection with the body, mind and spirit.  After interviewing the patient, the group of healers would then discuss and create the best course of treatment for each patient.

In many of these temples, the healing treatment would begin by having the patient stay in one of the rooms of the temple that had been created for healing. The patient would take some herbs and water which assisted in helping them sleep. During their sleep, a shaman or priestess (depending upon the mystery temple) would watch over the patient throughout the night, saying prayers over the person while conducting energy work over the aura and etheric body.

During the following days and weeks, the patient would receive healing in the physical body, with massage, herbs, potions and even surgery when required. Some of the oldest surgical tools found by archaeologists are from ancient Egypt. The patient would also speak with a healer who would listen to what was going on in their personal lives in order to relieve stress and pain and allow the patient to heal the mind and restore. In conjunction, healing at the energetic level included sound and light healing techniques, and natural elements were used including treatments by fire (sauna type rooms for sweating out toxins), water (bathing in waterfalls and pools with minerals added), air (with breathing rituals to calm the nerves and bring in new energy) and earth (with grounding natural foods and crystal healing techniques).

Over the ages, many eastern philosophies continued these practices, adding their own techniques over time to the healing practice. In recent times, the evolution in medicine has turned to repairing the physical body from trauma in emergency situations. As World Wars entered into the 20th century in conjunction with the Industrial Revolution and advancements in technology, tremendous leaps were made in medicine, including heart transplants, re-attaching limbs, and delicate internal surgeries. There is no doubt that medicine has advanced in surgical techniques and in gene therapy.

The unfortunate side effect of the Industrial Revolution is that during this period of rapid growth, the head (mind) detached from the heart and soul and developed amnesia. Medical science, representing the figurative head, became so enamored with what could be attached, replaced and/or removed from the physical body (such as tumors, growths and diseased organs) that it forgot about the heart and soul of the person which also affects and contributes to the health of the body. In this period of amnesia, physicians have focused only on one-third of the healing process. It can not be blamed entirely on the physicians, as history shows that scientists and doctors were maligned, threatened and at times tortured for their research due to fanatical religions that did not want science to conflict with their teachings, so it is understandable why science and religion parted company. During this time of peril, ancient techniques from the mystery schools continued to be passed down in secret from generation to generation as there was an active campaign by religious sects in the western world to destroy the shamans, the wise women and the natural healers. The old ways of healing were almost completely stamped out in the western world during the Dark Ages.

The information survived by the courage of brave souls in every generation who risked their lives to carry the information from one place, one village, one community to another. In addition, there continue to be souls who are reborn each generation with this knowledge carried within them to continue their work , who are also assisted by guides from the other side.

Now, in the 21st century, many doctors, scientists and researchers are looking into the concept of the body, mind and spirit connection and the philosophy of energy medicine. So many meta-physical events have been documented over the years that they can not be disregarded including:

• spontaneous remissions of cancer with no logical explanation
• patients with a positive outlook in life who experience quicker recovery rates and require less pain medication
• studies of patients who recovered more successfully than other similar patients when the only difference in the study was that their recovery was being prayed for by others
• patients who are cured from disease only to have it return again, when from all logical standpoints in the physical body, it should be healed
• effects and changes in the body such as lower heart rates and stabilized blood pressure levels from engaging in yoga and meditation
• introduction and research into eastern techniques such as acupressure, reflexology, massage and new techniques such as Healing Touch and EFT with successful results
  
• out of body experiences and near death experiences reported by a variety of patients

The number of people who are interested in alternative or complimentary medicine is growing substantially.  As a result, this movement has motivated the medical community to entertain and consider the idea of body/mind/spirit medicine. The outlook is hopeful that the western world may again return to an age of healing where all parts of the person are engaged in the healing process.

On the Explore Your Spirit Show, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with many physicians who are engaging in holistic healing work including: The Biology of Belief with Dr. Bruce Lipton, 365 Prescriptions for the Soul with Dr. Bernie Siegel, Life Beyond 100, with Dr. Norman Shealy and Heal Your Body with Dr. David Simon of the Chopra Center to name just a few. In ancient times, it was easy to engage in energy medicine and natural healing. Welcome to Kala’s Quick Five, where I chat with fascinating authors, artists, teachers and researchers and ask them five questions about their work. Our guest today is Sherrie Dillard, a new thought pastoral counselor, professional psychic, medium and teacher for over twenty years.

Kala: Sherrie, welcome to Kala’s Quick Five. Last time we spoke, it was on the Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show where we discussed your book, Discover Your Psychic Type. Your new book is ‘Love and Intuition: A Psychic’s Guide to Creating Lasting Love’. How does psychic ability assist in creating lasting love?

Sherrie: Lasting love springs from the soul. Soulful love is vibrant life giving vital energy that is everywhere and inherent in all things. Intuitive\psychic awareness is the ability to tune into nonphysical energy. Your intuitive\psychic ability can empower you to better embrace, understand and connect with love. How? By helping you to look within, listen to and decipher its guiding presence. It will also help you to tune into and better understand those you love and are in relationship with.

Kala: Step 7 in your book is: ‘Embrace Absolute Love’. What is the definition of absolute love?

Sherrie: Absolute love is the ‘glue of the universe’. It is pure vital divine energy, everywhere and at all time and forever unmarred by human conditioning.  Relative love on the other hand is the kind of love that we most often experience in our relationships. It is influenced by our desires, fears, limited beliefs and expectations. Intuitive\psychic awareness is the bridge between the two. It will empower you to give and receive absolute love and let you know when you are being tempted to swim in the murky water of relative love.

Kala: In Chapter 16, you discuss how to become a ‘soul mate magnet’. There’s a lot of debate currently on the soul mate issue, including whether we have one or many soul mates. How does one become a magnet for soul mates and what are your thoughts about how many soul mates we have?

Sherrie: A soul mate is another who you are connected to from the depths of your most loving and wise inner self. It is a relationship based on the divine qualities of forgiveness, kindness, trust, unconditional love and supportive of your highest good. However, a soul mate connection does not necessarily mean that your will always have an easy, unproblematic relationship. Because it is based in the soul, the ego, surface personality self will be challenged to transform.  We attract a soul mate by consciously living in the energy of our soul. Likes attract likes. The more you embody soul attributes such as, forgiveness, unconditional love, kindness, joy and selflessness, the easier it will be to attract a soul mate.  I believe that we have an unlimited number of soul mates. We are connected to all and everyone. There is an abundance of love, just ripe for the picking.

Kala: In your book, you cover the highest forms of love, including spiritual love and self-love. You also discuss love in the physical, such as in Chapter 18, ‘In the Bedroom, Sexual Intuition’. Can you share some tips with our readers on how to use intuition during love-making?

Sherrie: Carl Jung, the famed psychologist, once said that everyone who came to see him with a “sexual” issue had in fact a “spiritual” issue and everyone who came to see him for a “spiritual” issue had a “sexual” issue. Sexuality and spirituality are highly charged, sensual energies that are forever intertwined. Your intuition is the perfect compliment to sexuality. It will help you to tune into your partner’s nonverbal needs and desires and challenge you to open to new levels of intimacy and trust. Intuition is more that just accessing information, it is the gateway for soul connected oneness that transcends physical boundaries. Pretty exciting, stuff!

Kala: ‘Love and Intuition’ invites us to ‘love like angels’ and mentions that our ‘spirit guides are a constant source of positive energy’. How can angels and spirit guides assist us in finding love?

Sherrie: Conscious relationships are an accelerated path for personal growth and spiritual awareness. But let’s face it, they are not easy. In many ways relationships dredge up our deepest fears, insecurities and self centeredness. They demand we evolve, grow and change.  Your angels and spirit guides are here to help. They are wise and loving beings who are ever ready to assist you in letting go of your pain, releasing old patterns of behavior and filling you with absolute love. All they need is just a simple request of help. They can inspire and support you and influence your relationships and external conditions. That little surge of sparkly love and pull toward another might very well be a sign from your angels. Their help is practical and will surprise you.
