Mars and Venus with Dr. John Gray

Kala speaks with John Gray about his newest book, Why Mars and Venus Collide. The enduring message from John Gray is that men and women are indeed from different planets. This truth has not changed since the publication of Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. In fact, the differences between the sexes have become more evident in today's hectic, fast-paced world. Except now, the monster known as stress has become a main ingredient in our lives and it has successfully invaded our relationships. Once upon a time, there was a lifestyle where men went to work and women stayed home. In today's society, you're more likely to find the power couple. They both go to work (for longer than just 9 to 5) and they are overworked, underpaid, and overstressed. They both struggle to excel in the same status-hungry society and hectic, competitive, career-oriented environment. Couples come home to each other -- and instead of being comforted by each other, a new set of problems begin. And most of these challenges can be chalked up to one main ingredient: stress.

More About Dr. John Gray:
John Gray is the author of 15 best-selling books, including Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, the number one best-selling relationship book of the last decade. In the past ten years, over 30 million Mars and Venus books have been sold in over 40 languages throughout the world. An expert in the field of communication, John Gray's focus is to help men and women understand, respect and appreciate their differences in both personal and professional relationships. In his many books, CDs, DVDs, tapes, workshops and seminars, he provides practical tools and insights to effectively manage stress and improve relationships at all stages and ages by creating the brain chemistry of health, happiness and lasting romance. Dr. John Gray has appeared on Oprah, The Today Show, CBS Morning Show, Good Morning America, The View, Politically Incorrect, Larry King, and others. He has been profiled in Newsweek, Time, Forbes, USA Today, TV Guide, and People , among others. John Gray, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of communication and relationships, is the author of fifteen books, was a certified marriage and family therapist for over 15 years, and has been conducting personal-growth seminars for over thirty years. John Gray lives with his wife and three children in Northern California. More info at: http://www.marsvenus.com

Positive Energy with Dr. Judith Orloff

Transforming the face of psychiatry, Dr. Judith Orloff asserts that we are keepers of an innate intuitive intelligence so perceptive that it can tell us how to heal—and prevent—illness. Yet intuition and spirituality are the very aspects of our wisdom usually disenfranchised from traditional health care.

As a board-certified psychiatrist and assistant professor of psychiatry at UCLA, Dr. Orloff exhibits great courage in drawing upon her own intuitive abilities, evident to her since childhood. Her struggles acknowledging and then finally embracing her gift of heightened intuition are chronicled in Second Sight. Her second book, Dr. Judith Orloff's Guide to Intuitive Healing shows how breakthroughs in healing our body, emotions, and sexuality are accomplished by listening to intuition. Her latest book Positive Energy completes a trilogy of books around awakening intuition and subtle energy. Positive Energy takes a probing look at the epidemic of exhaustion in America and how we can reverse it using specific strategies to build energy and combat draining people. Positive Energy is a national and Los Angeles Times bestseller which as been translated into 23 languages.

More About Dr. Judith Orloff:
Dr. Orloff, who comes from a family of 25 physicians, advocates "a democracy of healing," wherein every aspect of our being is granted a vote in the search for total health. She believes that it is our birthright, both as health-care givers and health-care recipients, to reclaim our intuition to build energy and well-being. In response to her work, The Los Angeles Times calls Dr. Orloff “a prominent energy based healer.”

Dr. Orloff is accomplishing for psychiatry what physicians like Dean Ornish and Mehmet Oz have done for mainstream medicine—she is proving that the links between physical, emotional, and spiritual health can’t be ignored. She begins talks by creating a bond of warmth, trust and intimacy with participants, within which they can hear and explore her ideas. Her sincerity, humor, and joy bring everyone in the audience with her—leaving everyone certain of their own intuitive abilities, as well as Dr. Orloff's contributions to a radically new kind of medicine.

Raising Intuitive Children with Catherine Crawford

Kala Ambrose speaks with Catherine Crawford about her book, The Highly Intuitive Child. Some children can walk into a room and feel “the vibe” instantly in their body. Others may tune into an unspoken family conflict, or tell someone to "be careful" before stumbling into an unknown situation. These may seem to be the normal human qualities of intuition and empathy, but in highly intuitive children (and adults), such traits are supercharged. Growing up in a culture that favors the rational and the five senses can be difficult for gifted children. This book shows parents, teachers, and therapists how to help them — and those around them — embrace and exercise their gift. The Highly Intuitive Child covers a wealth of topics including: how to easily identify the intuitive child; how life is different for them; the 10 skills to learn before leaving home; the connections between neuroscience and empathy; what other cultures can teach us about supporting intuitive children; success stories; and much more.

More About Catherine Crawford:
Catherine Crawford, LMFT, ATR, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and registered art therapist specializing in the needs of intuitive empath children and adults. Her new book is The Highly Intuitive Child: A Guide to Understanding and Parenting Unusually Sensitive and Empathic Children (Hunter House, 2009). Her website is www.lifepassage.com

The Global Consciousness Project with Dr. Roger Nelson

In 1993, building on years of laboratory experiments, Dr. Roger Nelson began using random event generator technology in the field to register correlations of data with special states of group consciousness. This work led to the world-spanning GCP network, designed to look for indications of a global consciousness responding to major world events like destructive earthquakes, the beginnings of war or terror attacks like 9/11, as well as worldwide holidays and celebrations like New Years Eve. After several years of purely scientific focus, with careful research yielding increasingly persuasive evidence, Dr. Nelson has begun to make public presentations about the GCP. The findings imply that we can be creative participants in determining our future, and that we have the capacity and responsibility for conscious evolution. Dr. Nelson is the upcoming president of the international Parapsychology Association.

More About Dr Roger Nelson:
Dr. Nelson will discuss the Global Consciousness Project (GCP) which he founded in 1997 during his more than 20 years at the PEAR lab at Princeton University. Dr. Nelson’s broad interests in psychology, physics, philosophy, and the arts have generated opportunities to collaborate with creative interdisciplinary teams at PEAR and elsewhere, developing technologies for studying consciousness and intention. He has a strong interest in the theoretical, philosophical, and practical implications of direct interactions of mind and matter, which help to define the role of consciousness in the world. Mother Sarita and Don Miguel Ruiz

Kala speaks with Don Miguel Ruiz about the power of the Divine Feminine. Don Miguel's mother, Sara Macias Vasquez ("Mother Sarita"), gifted healer, recently passed away at the age of 98. "Mother Sarita", was widely recognized as a powerful, gifted faith healer. Raised in rural Mexico, she learned ancient Toltec wisdom from her shaman grandfather, and passed this wisdom on to her son, author don Miguel Ruiz (The Four Agreements). In 2007, Mother Sarita was inducted into The San Diego Women’s Hall of Fame for her contributions to healing and teaching, and for her role as an influential mentor. Her message Si se puede, “Yes, it’s possible” was an inspiration to many. Her courageous and loving spirit will be greatly missed.

More About Don Miguel Ruiz...
Born into a family of healers, Don Miguel Ruiz was raised in rural Mexico by a curandera (healer) mother and a nagual (shaman) grandfather. The family anticipated that Miguel would embrace their centuries-old legacy of healing and teaching. Instead, distracted by modern life, Miguel chose to attend medical school and become a surgeon.
A near-death experience changed his life. Late one night in the early 1970s, he awoke suddenly, having fallen asleep at the wheel of his car. At that moment the car crashed into a wall of concrete. He remembers that he was not in his physical body as he watched himself pull his two friends to safety. Stunned by this experience, he began an intensive practice of self-inquiry. He devoted himself to the mastery of the ancient ancestral wisdom, studying earnestly with his mother, and completing an apprenticeship with a powerful shaman in the Mexican desert. For more than two decades, Don Miguel Ruiz has worked to impart this wisdom to his students through lectures, workshops, and journeys to sacred sites around the world.

Awakening to God-Consciousness with Rev. Wendy Craig-Purcell

Kala speaks with Rev. Wendy Craig-Purcell, Founding Minister and CEO of the Unity Center in San Diego. Rev. Wendy with the Unity School of Christianity and the Association of Unity Churches is presenting a six-part webcast series entitled Jesus and the Awakening to God-Consciousness on www.unity.fm that explores this controversial yet expansive view of Jesus and his teachings in conversations with Deepak Chopra. Each segment will be available free of charge. A recent Pew Forum found 68 percent of adult Americans believe there's more than one true way to interpret the teachings of their religion. "If they knew there was a path like Unity's," speculates Craig-Purcell, "vast numbers would be surprised and delighted. The Unity movement, founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in their Kansas City living rom, has taught and practiced an expansive, inclusive, and universal understanding of Jesus' teachings for nearly 120 years. According to Paula Coppel, vice president of Communications at Unity School of Christianity in Unity Village, MO, “It was the enlightened state that Jesus was both demonstrating and teaching. This Web series contends that Jesus was not trying to start a new religion, nor was he aiming his teachings at some people and not others. He was pointing the way for all of us to experience the awakening that he himself had experienced.” This is an important and liberating perspective. "We’re not trying to change anyone’s mind or beliefs. We’re just offering an alternative view," says Coppel. "We understand that this material is controversial and will probably upset some viewers," says Craig-Purcell. “But Jesus, after all, was controversial himself and radical in his time, so we are in good company." We urge you to let your audience know about this groundbreaking media event.

More About Wendy Craig-Purcell:
Wendy Craig-Purcell is Founding & Senior Minister & CEO of The Unity Center, a 1500-member spiritual community located in San Diego, California. The Unity Center, formerly known as Church of Today, celebrated its 25-year anniversary in May 2008. Wendy is a graduate of the Unity School of Christianity, Unity Village, Missouri. She was ordained in 1980, one of the youngest to ever be ordained in Unity. Wendy has been active for many years in the Association for Global New Thought (A.G.N.T.). She joined their Leadership Council in 1999 and currently serves as Vice President. Wendy participated in all three AGNT-sponsored “Synthesis Dialogues,” which brought together some of the world’s leading thinkers to dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet. The dialogues were held in Dharmsala, India in 1999 and in Italy in 2001 and 2004. Wendy has been involved with other important AGNT activities, including producing six large-scale “Awakened World” conferences and the Gandhi King Peace Train & Living Legends of Nonviolence Conference. She traveled to Istanbul, Turkey in November 2006 as part of the planning for the Abraham Path Initiative, in partnership with the Harvard Negotiation Project, to open up a pilgrimage route in the Middle East retracing the footsteps of the prophet Abraham. With a strong interest in Spiritually Motivated Social Action, Wendy & The Unity Center were instrumental in the early formation of the San Diego Department of Peace grassroots group in the fall of 2004. That initial group, Americans for the Department of Peace (AFDOP), now encompasses all of Southern California with The Unity Center providing ongoing support. Wendy lives in San Diego, California (Scripps Ranch) with her husband, John Purcell, who serves as Director of Operations for The Unity Center, and their two children: Johnathon, age 16 and Jennifer, age 11.

The Four Agreements with Don Miguel Ruiz

According to Don Miguel Ruiz, everything we do is based on agreements we have made — agreements with ourselves, with other people, with God, with life. But the most important agreements are the ones we make with ourselves. In these agreements we tell ourselves who we are, how to behave, what is possible, what is impossible. One single agreement is not such a problem, but we have many agreements that come from fear, deplete our energy, and diminish our self-worth.

In The Four Agreements, Don Miguel reveals the source of self-limiting agreements that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. When we are ready to change these agreements, there are four deceptively simple, yet powerful agreements that we can adopt as guiding principles. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. The Way of the Explorer with Dr. Edgar Mitchell

Kala speaks with astronaut Edgar Mitchell. In his book, The Way of the Explorer, Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut and the founder of Noetic Sciences, traces two remarkable journeys—one through space and one through the mind. Mitchell is a brilliant and intriguing man who turned his attention to the nature of consciousness. Explore the realms of space and time...

More About Dr. Edgar Mitchell:
On January 31, 1971, Navy Captain Dr. Edgar Mitchell embarked on a journey into outer space that resulted in becoming the sixth man to walk on the moon. The Apollo 14 mission was NASA's third manned lunar landing. This historic journey ended safely nine days later on February 9, 1971. It was an audacious time in the history of mankind. For Mitchell, however, the most extraordinary journey was yet to come. As he hurtled earthward through the abyss between the two worlds, Mitchell became engulfed by a profound sensation "a sense of universal connectedness." He intuitively sensed that his presence, that of his fellow astronauts, and that of the planet in the window were all part of a deliberate, universal process and that the glittering cosmos itself was in some way conscious. The experience was so overwhelming Mitchell knew his life would never be the same. Scientist, test pilot, naval officer, astronaut, entrepreneur, author and lecturer, Dr. Mitchell's extraordinary career personifies humankind's eternal thrust to widen its horizons as well as its inner soul. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University, a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and a Doctor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT. In addition he has received honorary doctorates in engineering from New Mexico State University, the University of Akron, Carnegie Mellon University and a ScD from Embry-Riddle University.

Dr. Mitchell has received many awards and honors including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the USN Distinguished Medal and three NASA Group Achievement Awards. He was inducted to the Space Hall of Fame in 1979 and the Astronaut Hall of Fame in 1998. He was a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005. After retiring from the Navy in 1972, Dr. Mitchell founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences to sponsor research into the nature of consciousness as it relates to cosmology and causality. In 1984, he was a co-founder of the Association of Space Explorers, an international organization of those who have experienced space travel. He is the author of "Psychic Exploration," 1974, "The Way of the Explorer," 1996, (Third edition, 2006) as well as dozens of articles in both professional and popular periodicals. He has devoted the last 35 years to studying human consciousness and psychic and paranormal phenomena in the search for a common ground between science and spirit.

What the Bleep Do We Know? Down the Rabbit Hole with producer Will Arntz

Today on Explore Your Spirit, we're speaking with Will Arntz, Producer of WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW? What the Bleep is part documentary, part story, and part elaborate and inspiring visual effects and animations. In the movie, the protagonist, Amanda, played by Marlee Matlin, finds herself in a fantastic life-altering experience when her daily, uninspired life literally begins to unravel, revealing the uncertain world of the quantum field hidden behind what we consider to be our normal, waking reality.

The film employs animation to realize the radical knowledge that modern science has unearthed in recent years. Powerful cinematic sequences explore the inner-workings of the human brain. Quirky animation introduces us to the smallest form of consciousness in the body -- the cell. Dazzling visuals reinforce the film’s message in an exciting, powerful way. Done with humor, precision, and irreverence, these scenes are only part of what makes this film unique in the history of cinema, and a true box-office winner.

12 Principles of Karma with Steven Hairfield

Kala brings back Dr. Steven Hairfield, who was previously on the show to speak about A Metaphysical Interpretation of the Bible. This time she speaks with him about the 12 Principles of Karma. Dr. Hairfield speaks on Oriental and Buddhist philosophies of the path of the Monk and how Eastern traditions follow the principles of Newton’s third law of cause and effect, all be it older than the mathematical proof of the law.” There are twelve principles of karma of which we, in this part of the world, misunderstand and pay little or no heed. We plow along in life with very little mindfulness of what we set in motion. Kala and Steven discuss the principles and offer ideas on how to balance the effects of our cause, the idea of the principle of Alpha and the Omega.

More About Dr. Steven Hairfield:
Dr. Hairfield's search for peaceful answers and higher understanding guided his steps within the walls of a Zen Buddhist monastery in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam, where he would take refuge and study whenever he could. His natural curiosity, blended with a very acute intuitive sense led him to deeper questions of life and the purpose of self. The monks began to insist that he should learn of Issa. He then learned that Issa was in fact Jesus. He later learned that Issa, Jesus, had spent much time in what is now known today as India, Pakistan, Ladak, Nepal, and Tibet before returning to the Middle East to carry out His mission. This truly inspired his personal search for knowledge and a passion to somehow recreate the Master’s 18 years not mentioned in the Bible. He had set a goal that would intrigue and shock him later, but first, he had to understand what made the human mind work in the fashion that it does. Upon his return to the United States he studied for and received a B.A. in Psychology. Then pushed by his dream for Universal Truth, he traveled to India following an inner urge which led him to his greatest teachers and lessons, Tibetan Masters. They guided him through India, Nepal, and twice into Tibet, they smuggled him into the later as it was Red Chinese with closed borders at the time. While in this part of the world he adapted to the life of a monk, and for many years he continued his research in the Far East and the path of Jesus while proving to himself that indeed He had been there studying.

When he returned home once more after working with his eastern teachers he wanted to understand the belief system and studied the greatest belief system of all and received an M.A. in Religion and Theology, becoming quite interested and fascinated by the field of Metaphysics in the process. He knew by what he had already learned that there was another message contained in the idea of religion and the Bible. Thus some years later he went back to the books and received his Doctorate in Metaphysics. Through his years of studies with Zen and Tibetan Monks, Ishaya Monks, as well as the Cree and Blackfoot Native Traditions, this American Monk offers an approach to understanding how we influence our own paths in life and why we experience what we do. From Priest to Shaman, The Soul Journey with Peter Calhoun - Parts 1 and 2

Peter Calhoun has been inspiring, guiding, and teaching people how to re-establish their connection with the Earth and reclaim their Spiritual Powers for the past thirty years. He has helped to facilitate the transformation of people to experience wholeness, unity, joy, and love, through personal experiences and connections with the Infinite Divine. His new book released in 2007, Soul On Fire is described as a magical collection of stories describing the awakening of spiritual powers of an Episcopal Priest turned Shaman – powers which have usually been ascribed to eastern masters or traditional shamans.

Within these pages we learn about the “Path of Return” to our wondrous Earth as a means by which we can reclaim our original soul powers. Soul on Fire is an inspirational guide for long-time seekers and those just beginning their journey alike.

At a time when old modalities no longer seem to be working for many people, the stories in this book reveal a different way of thinking, feeling, and being.

More About Peter Calhoun...
Peter Calhoun is a graduate from Auburn University and the Episcopal Seminary of Alexandria, Virginia. After his ordination, he served as an Episcopal priest for eight years in three parishes and a mission church in the Atlanta, GA area. During his work as a priest, Calhoun underwent a spontaneous awakening of some of the healing and intuitive abilities described in his autobiographical book, SOUL ON FIRE: A TRANSFORMATIONAL JOURNEY FROM PRIEST TO SHAMAN. This awakening included a series of disturbing visions of the possible futures of the Earth. It was these events, along with Calhoun’s deepening concern over the state of our disconnection from the Earth and her environment that caused him to make a reluctant departure from the institutional church and embark on the path of modern shamanism that has been his life for more than three decades.

Calhoun currently teaches workshops and leads sacred wilderness journeys and vision quests in Utah’s Canyonlands National Park as well as in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. He also meets with individuals for healing, intuitive counseling, and private apprenticeship in modern shamanism. More about Peter Calhoun at www.petercalhoun.com

God In Real Life with Kevin Todeschi

Kala speaks with Kevin Todeschi, Executive Director of Edgar Cayce's Association of Research and Enlightenment about his new book, God in Real Life. In his book, Kevin explores questions including: What if it was truly understood that individuals can have real encounters with the Divine, even in this modern world? What might happen to our collective worldview if we suddenly realized that, in truth, there is a caring God very much concerned about each and every one of us? Presented in this new book are personal accounts from people of all ages, races, and religions who have one thing in common: an experience with the Divine. Also included are historical examples found in the lives of such individuals as Padre Pio, Vivekananda and Irina Tweedie. Their stories suggest that the time has come for our 21st century world to acknowledge that there is much more to us than a simple physical body. Perhaps the time has come to acknowledge that we are never really alone.

Oneness Movement with Sri Raniji

Sri Bhagavan and Sri Amma, founders of the Oneness University have repeatedly said, the solution to humanity's suffering can only be found through each person being awakened to the state of Oneness - a level of consciousness characterized by inner peace, joy and love for all. However, this level of consciousness is not something we can give ourselves, it must be given to us through Divine Grace. It is the mission of Sri Bhagavan and Sri Amma to bring this sense of Oneness to all of humanity. Their inspired vision is to awaken 64,000 people around the world. In turn, these people will act as Divine vessels to help transform the rest of humanity. Each day the divine energy being transferred to individuals through the practice of the Oneness Blessing is increasing several fold and thousands of people are opening to this grace we call Oneness.

More About Sri Raniji:
Sri Raniji only became aware of suffering when she experienced it as an adult. As she searched for answers, she encountered many concepts and ideas which were not fundamentally helpful. Not until she met Acharyia Anandagiriji, did her life change dramatically and quickly. There was great beauty, simplicity and universality in his message. She realized that only true internal freedom can create a joyful life. The compassion born of her extreme suffering was so profound, she became dedicated to relieve the pain of others. “Use me,” she asked of AmmaBhagavan. That was twelve years ago. Bhagavan appointed her as Spiritual Leader and Founder of the Oneness Movement in North America. Sri Raniji has made her mission to help bring the gift of love to the people of the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Italy. She works and travels tirelessly, presenting a wide variety of workshops, ofen in major universities, such as “Energy Transfer for Enlightenment” (also called Deeksha), “Awakening the Higher Self”, “Perfecting Relationships”, “Discovering Bliss”, and “Freedom from Stress.” More info at: https://www.onenessmovement.org

Spiritual Partnerships with Gary Zukav and Linda Francis

A spiritual partnership is a partnership between equals for the purpose of spiritual growth. Spiritual partners use spirituality information from their inner sources, such as their emotions and intuition. They also learn to choose their intentions consciously and how to develop trust in the Universe. Spiritual partnership is a new relationship dynamic in the human experience. It exists for a new multisensory humanity that is being born – a humanity that is not confined to the limitations of what can be seen, heard, touched, tasted, and smelled. You are likely a candidate for creating spiritual partnerships, or you would not be drawn to these words.

Spiritual partnerships are not exclusively for couples in marriage or relationships; they can be created in families, between friends, in the workplace, on sports teams, at school – anywhere two or more individuals decide to create a relationship as equals in order to grow spiritually. For example, among co-workers, even if one is the boss, another is the manager, and others are hourly employees, the commitment of each is to his or her own spiritual growth, although co-workers of different job levels have different responsibilities in the workplace. Their intention to grow spiritually with every interaction rather than blame or judge each other when reactions occur becomes the defining point of their relationship.

Now that you know what Gary Zukav and Linda Francis mean by “spiritual partnership,” you will better understand the Spiritual Partnership Guidelines. Because spiritual partnership is a new relationship dynamic, creating partnerships of this nature will take practice. Gary and Linda suggest that you use the Spiritual Partnership Guidelines daily and see for yourself the changes that you make in your life. Then if you are drawn, please join Gary Zukav and Linda Francis, on one of their seminars or retreats this year, where they will share with you the beauty and empowerment of this type of relationship.

An uplifting collection of spiritually illuminating texts and powerfully thought-provoking real life stories, showing death as an integral part of life. These touching observations of closeness to someone who is in the dying process, and personal accounts of near-death experiences and after-death communication, illustrate how coming to terms with the inevitability of death is actually a life-affirming experience. These emotionally evocative and inspirational experiences address timeless questions and help expand our limited awareness of the nature of consciousness. They show how each of the individuals concerned has come to understand that death teaches us that the preciousness of life must be lived with a sense of purpose and meaning, as a celebration of our existence.

Wake Up Now: A Journey Through the Stages of Spiritual Awakening with Stephan Bodian

With the growing popularity of satsang in the West, more and more people are waking up to the radiant emptiness of their essential spiritual nature. But few realize that awakening is often just the beginning of a prolonged and challenging journey of spiritual unfolding that may be fraught with pitfalls as well as promise. Kala speaks with Stephan Bodian, spiritual teacher and author of the new book, Wake Up Now: A Guide to the Journey of Spiritual Awakening. Stephan invites you to glimpse your true nature directly, right now, without arduous practice. His work leads you through the stages that generally follow: the “wake” of awakening, when the mind tends to obscure or co-opt your realization; the embodiment process, in which you learn to actualize your awakening in every area and dimension of your life; and the ongoing challenge of freeing the dark or frozen places in the psyche that awakening by itself may not reach.

More About Stephan Bodian:
Stephan has practiced and taught nondual approaches to truth for more than 35 years. After a series of deepening realizations, he received Dharma transmission (authorization to teach) from his Zen teacher, Adyashanti. His life is now devoted to igniting and fostering the flame of truth in others through his counseling, mentoring, teaching, and writing. In addition to regular satsangs and intensives, Stephan offers silent retreats and an eight-month School for Awakening that begins again in June 2008. A licensed psychotherapist as well as a spiritual teacher, he has evolved a vibrant, intimate approach to counseling and mentoring that blends psychological insight and spiritual realization. His new book, Wake Up Now: A Guide to the Journey of Spiritual Awakening, was published this year by McGraw-Hill.

Stephan began practicing Zen in 1970 after studying Asian language and culture at Columbia and Stanford. Ordained a Zen priest in 1974, he trained with several Zen masters, including Shunryu Suzuki Roshi (author of Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind) and Taizan Maezumi Roshi, and directed the training program at the Zen Center of Los Angeles. Living the Conscious Dream in Life and Business with John Troy

Kala speaks with John Troy about his journey into consciousness and connecting it all together to live the dream in life and in business. John's friends call him The Wizard. He says he's just doing what comes naturally. John Troy is a North Carolina native, born and raised in this gentle, southern state. Summertime found him at a farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains where he began to learn all about the world of natural foods, firsthand. Thirty years later, John met his second food guru, Jamesy, a little man in the mountains of Jamaica with a heart as big as all outdoors. Jamesy became John's spiritual Godfather. Jamesy's diet was totally natural, out of the wild and he taught John the methods of preparing healthy food with what the good earth freely provided. Days were spent gathering and preparing food from scratch from the wild harvest. Jamesy taught John the power of food in healing the body. When John returned from Jamaica, he opened a natural herb & spice store in Chapel Hill, NC and his journey in the food business began. He went on to manage two emerging natural foods stores before starting a foundation of the healing arts, The Lindenself Foundation. There, John was busy feeding folks incredible meals at retreats and gatherings. As a support for the foundation, he started an enterprise to make the world's first energy bar, The Wizard's Power Pac, a delicious high-energy bar made with fruits, nuts, herbs, honey and ginseng. Inspired by the advent of a first traditional soy facility in North Carolina, John concocted his first bottled sauce. The Wizard's Hot Stuff. This miso based hot sauce is still popular today. This was the beginning of the prolific storm of sauces, dressings and condiments that were to follow. He started American Natural Foods and introduced natural sauces and condiments to the national natural food trade.

More About John Troy:
From his growing reputation, John received an invitation from the prime minister of Grenada to consult on how to best utilize their small truck farms in reaching the culinary markets of the world. The following year, the governor of Vermont asked John to consult with the State of Vermont, helping small food artisans develop and re-formulate products and scale up for entry into the natural foods industry. He worked with this coalition of Vermont food artisans and, today, many of these companies that John coached are successful national gourmet and natural food companies. John's consulting business also took him to Japan where he learned about the wonderful world of Asian cuisine. Leveraging the consulting fees that he had earned, John was able to invest in and build a company with a bottling plant in Cedar Grove, NC. Thus The Wizard's Cauldron, LTD was founded. He began to assemble a skilled and energetic team of people with shared principles. The company began an enterprise in proprietary branding for folks who were looking for a qualified team who understood the need for a natural and organic way of providing delicious food products. At the same time, John and his wife, Carol, began planning menus and cooking at their own natural food cafe in Hillsborough, NC, The Regulator Cafe. The popular cafe had a local following that allowed the pair to experiment with many innovative new American flavor profiles. John then coached an artisan food company in the UK where they developed and formulated organic dressings for Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury. He continues to work with many small food artisans, coaching them to be organic and how to scale up for larger demand. Today, John Troy is CEO and Coach at The Wizard's Cauldron, where they continue to produce winning recipes. He refers to the company's marketing strategy as "The Wizard of Oz" marketing strategy. The company currently supplies over a two hundred different products for the organic food trade. Customers include Whole Foods Market, Wild Oats, Central Market, Moosewood Restaurant, Premier Japan, Simply Delicious, Rainforest Organic, OrganicVille, Redbone Alley, Albert's Organics and Atkins Nutritionals. The enterprise is still doing what comes naturally, and organically, and helps it's customers to do the same. More info at: http://www.wizardscauldron.com/

What People Want - Building Relationships with Terry Bacon

The book is: What People Want: A Manager's Guide to Building Relationships That Work. A recent survey of 500 employees reveals significant differences between those who identify themselves as "religious or spiritual" and their nonreligious peers. Bacon draws from his original research to analyze several key differences. Among them: Spiritual workers have higher needs for forgiveness and emotional support, Spiritual workers have higher needs to be valued and acknowledged, Spiritual workers have higher needs to trust their boss and coworkers, Nonspiritual workers have a higher tolerance for diverse value systems, Nonspiritual workers are less concerned if their managers are not personable, and Nonspiritual workers don't look for unconditional support from peers.
